Cameron Lee

We get it, you don't like Haluska. Give it a rest.

Why would say that? I never commented on whether I liked him or not, just pointed out his stats to date. Pointing out his stats has nothing to do with like or dislike - actually I do not know him, have not seen him play so I can't make a judgement on whether I like him or not (I would hope I can say I like all Cyclones...). The thread was about Lee the walk on and some have spoken to the quality of play/improvement so I was just pointing out that for Sean, his numbers are something that speak for themselves in regard to walk on status... just like 22 implied: walk-ons as our starters or heavy minute guys - we're not going to reach the destinations our AD/coaches/fans want for this program...even more so with numbers like that to date.

Like Matthew -I too am Cameron's uncle and attended Iowa State from 2000-2003.

Cameron is on an academic scholarship. He excelled academically in high school. What do you expect...the kid was learning Russian in third grade or so. (seriously)

Cameron did not have many looks coming out of high school. His high school team produced Jerel McNeal and Maurice Acker of Marquette. It was a pretty deep team. While Cameron was very athletic and a great defender in high school...he is now coming out of his shell. Also, he has put on a solid 20 lbs. since his first summer at ISU. They told him to go Division III -but, he felt he was Div. I material.

He has a great story but, I won't embarass him with the details. I'll tell you this however, at the same time he was a starting point guard on a top Illinois basketball team -he was humble and silly enough to be spiderman for his little nephew's birthday party. Yes- he wore the suit and even got other players to be superheroes as well.

I have the pictures! Hmmm...maybe I should put them on facebook. LOL

Awesome story, thanks guys. If he can develop a bit more offensive skill set he could find some time on the floor and really contribute. He has the athletic ability.

We need him and Rahshon to have a dunk off. That dunk on you tube was one of the best jams I have seen in a while. If he threw down one of those during games, Hilton would go absolutely go berserk.

Per Jonesy429: " You've never seen haluska play!?!? then how can you say anthing about cameron lee!!!"

Read my comments prospect, I never commented on Lee, just pointed out a stat about a Walk On...

Ahh i see... I just thought it was odd that you were posting about players when you said you hadnt seen them play, but i see that you werent really judging them or anything, i also see that you're location is Houston, so yea i kinda jumped to conclusions  and hopefully you get to see these guys play soon!!!

Since Cameron's uncles are posting on this and I don't want to be left out... I'm gona put in my two cents. I am Cameron's auntie (married to his uncle, Matthew). Matthew, Jeff and I were all at Iowa State until 2003 which is part of how he ended up in Iowa from Illinois. (I think someone asked that).

Like Jeff said, Cameron is on an academic scholarship, he's a George Washington Carver Scholar because he's smart like that :-) ISU is an excellent school academically with an historically strong walk on program. ISU was a great choice for Cameron.

We all love Cameron and we're very proud of him on an off of the court. He is a very bright kid and I think that shows in the way he plays.

If we had known he was going to be playing so much, we could have planned to come and see him. Maybe we still can!

We can tell you are a close family auntie, that is way cool. Welcome to the board to all 3 of you and hope you visit often. Cameron is a cool kid, reminds me of Diante Garrett in that he is tall, skinny and quick enough to steal the basketball.

This could be a great story for us older grads to watch, a kid from Chicago walks on at ISU, kind of reminds me of another great Chicago walk on Jeff Hornecik. Jeff could be our best known NBA player of all time.

The Ames Tribune ran an intersting story about Camaron today, read and be proud Lee family. Mid-Iowa Newspapers - Go Cyclones - Front Page
