Cameron Lard Eligible at Semester?

Well when our defense is get out of the way because we can't afford fouls I disagree.

I don't know what to tell you. If Prohm felt like Carter could have helped last season then he would have put him on the floor. You can't just throw a guy out there to hack everyone they see on defense and then stand under the basket and not get in the way on offense. Carter couldn't help or he would have played. End of story.

And Brady would be here if Carter wasn't better, right?

It's fair to say coaches make errors in judgment. Our big men recruitment and development has been atrocious. Perhaps sneaking in developmental minutes like other coaches would help. In the end, helping players get better is helping the team, and there are a lot of inconsequential minutes in a season.

It will be very interesting to see if Ernst gets some offers, and where he ends up vs where Carter ends up.

Niang, Ejim, Mckay and Hogue were hardly atrocious. Solomon Young also looks pretty good to me.

based on the opinions of Lard's game by recruiters and our staff (stuck with him through all this ****) I think he has the ability to help this team, that is why it is even being discussed. But him not playing truly competitive basketball in over a year is why he should not be thrown to the Wolves if he hasn't gotten acclimated yet.

Like every other player, he should see the floor once he was earned it in practice. There is nothing to gain by throwing him in completely cold. CSP is building this program for the future. We are who we are this year. Absent a 5th year all-american post presence, we are a middle of the road team - no better, no worse on any given night. No freshman, with no practice, no conditioning, and acedmenic issues, should be looked to to save our bacon this year. Build this program for the future and for continued success.

Lards arrival is the start of every new player in the program having completely unfair and unrealistic expectation placed on them, especially any post player.

I said big men, not small forwards that did great in a small ball game. You're fooling yourself if you think our biggest weakness the past 6+ seasons hasn't been recruitment and development of big men. Championship level teams have many different types of assets, and that aspect of the game has been our biggest weakest in comparison to the programs at the next level. McKay was only one guy over how many years? It's really too bad we missed on him out of IHCC and filled up early with Edozie over Armardi. But hey, if Edozie wasn't better he wouldn't have been here.

Give me a line-up with Hogue at center over said line-up with McKay at center. I would at least know what I am getting from my player if that were the case.

Like blue blood? I say this all of the time but I'd rather be elite at one thing than decent at a bunch of things. If that one thing is having great guard play every year I'll take it. I just get so tired of feeling like people want us to be the 1987 Iowa Hawkeyes all of the time. Or maybe the '92 Clones. It's so Iowan/midwestern that basketball fans haven't caught up to the fact that this is a post-center world for 90% of CBB teams.

I'm not upset that we can't get a true center or a 6-10 PF every year what upsets me is that we haven't put pen to paper on a definitive style so far this season. I don't know who this team is and I'm hoping it's going to evolve in to a run and chuck team soon or we'll go down trying to be a 30 seconds of defense team and that doesn't work.

The fact that you would take Hogue at center is actually making Swarthmore's point about crappy big man recruiting
