Cameron Lard Eligible at Semester?

what's the deal with Long? He was out highest rated guy coming in. He is being saved because we have a deep G lineup or not performing up to expectations? I was excited when we signed him and was hoping he'd play a bit more.

5 of our best 6-7 players are guards (Morris, Naz, Thomas, Babb, Jackson), it's hard to see who Long would play in front of.

It was never expected that Long would play significant minutes this season. Next year he'll have a great opportunity however.

Play him now. Anything before conference is meaningless and we are 1-1 in conference. Everything to play for. Do not waste this kind of talent with the guards we have..

The why is listed earlier (depth at that position) but I thought he has looked talented in the games where he's gotten in late (as talented as you can look when the game has been decided and no one is playing with any sense of discipline).

Alex Halsted caught up with Cameron. (More evidence he does exist)

@AlexHalsted Cameron Lard: "It means a lot to me that a lot of people still care about me and the fact that I’m still out there trying to play."

@AlexHalsted Talked to Cameron Lard. He said Steve Prohm would like him in Ames ahead of Saturday night's game. He plans to arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

If he can help us this year he'll play, if not he won't. Simple stuff
Actually, not so simple. If he struggles in the classroom for the first few weeks, it won't matter how well he plays on the court. I'm sure they would keep his redshirt on so he can focus on academics without the pressure of playing in games. However, I'm hopeful he is taking a very light load of classes, which should make for a smoother transition when you consider the extra tutoring available to athletes.

He's not going to play and it'll have nothing to do with academics

First few weeks? He's not getting suspended academically in the first few weeks. That's virtually impossible.

Agree. We could use the help but no way in such a short time could he learn the system or the players gel with him to not cause disruption in what we're trying to build on now.

Off the plane and in uniform, I like it.

I was under the impression that his academic issues had more to do with him attending so many different high schools and less to do with him not being able to handle the school work. I'm not sure if he's a bigger academic risk than anyone else now that he's been cleared to enroll in classes.

With the classes most players get and the help they receive staying eligible should not be hard.

I wasn't talking about suspensions or eligibility. I just meant if he gets overwhelmed and struggles with the classwork, then that will be part of their decision if he will play or not. I guarantee the coaches will be asking him several times a week, "how's it going in the classroom"?

The plot thickins. After watching the Baylor post play I can see Prohm being tempted to try it.

@TommyBirch Prohm on the possibility of Lard playing this season: "If there's an opportunity to make a difference then we've got to seriously look at."

I don't know if I'd support it. That's less opportunity for Holden to pick up fouls, and I'm not sure that he can foul any faster than he does already.
