Caitlin Clark

They're doing her a disservice by comparing her to the men's players. Different sport, different level. It's a hell of an accomplishment to be one of the biggest stars in Women's bball, leave it at that.

But talking about sports for hours on the radio seems to necessitate making dumb comparisons to get people worked up.

I believe the problem here may lie in you looking for anything beyond dumb comparisons from Iowa sports radio. Lots of air time to fill with not a lot of content.

They have one Elite Eight with the 2019 NPOY in Gustafson and so far a Sweet 16 with Clark who has three more shots at the tournament most likely.

It appears you glossed over the men's side of things.

And no conference titles

Kinda weak sauce when we haven't won one in either sport in 20 years. Think we break that this season in WBB. Should at least get a share of the top spot. Iowa WBB at least has an Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen in the last two March Madness's held. Something old Fran can only dream about. ;)

And this year we gotta advance. Too much hard work put in by our team to earn that home court NCAA advantage and not parlay that into the Sweet Sixteen or better. Still feel bad for Bridget and the 2019 team falling short of that. I was disappointed as a fan but pretty bummed for the gals. We get to watch every year, they only get a couple chances to play them.

I was having this conversation with my son over the weekend. How can a "generational talent" like CC play four years of Iowa HS basketball without a single state or even conference title? Dowling has been a power in the past, with five state 5x5 titles, most recently in 2014. Did other good players stop going to Dowling during the four years CC was attending. Why?

I know she has lots of assists, but does she really make the players around her better. My observation, consisting of a few HS games and more college games, is "no". I'm approaching sixty so I remember Pete Maravich, with an unfathomable trick shot repertoire, lots of scoring and quite a few assists. No titles - college or pro. Fun to watch, but aren't going to win titles.

She is a ball hog. Reminds me of the early Michael Jordan years, or any of the Kobe years. Ball hog city.

She's 6th in the nation in 3 point attempts and 151st in the nation in 3 point percentage. And she's 4th in FG attempts and 120th in FG %.

So there.

Wait. She's still awful good. And I just remembered that I think I scored about 46 points in my entire high school career. I need to get a life.

Clark probably going to drop 50 tonight.

Actually think this might be closer than peeps think. Gophers have "unquit" as a team since their PG quit and left the team. Competing better the last few games. Iowa has Marshall back so not quite as short handed as they were. Not sure if she will be able to shoot very well coming off that injury. Didn't opt into the streaming package for Gophers this season, they just sadly haven't been worth the money, so can't watch.

Isn't there over 300 D1 schools. 5 starters makes 1500 plus qualifying players. Which is top 10%. Your attempt to throw shade was a very weak attempt.

Nice feature on Caitlin Clark on the 6 pm Keith Murphy sports tonight.
Apparently several NBA players follow her exploits regularly.

Holding true so far. Kinda like to watch this one, wish Big Ten plus wasn't school specific.

Nothing wrong with being a defensive specialist ;).

It is pretty remarkable that, given her incredible abilities, she has never been on a championship team (not even conference championship). I'm no coach, but I'm guessing it's difficult to develop really good team chemistry when your offense is so dominated by a single player.

Her play style reminds me a lot of Trae Young in his one year at OU. Both put up huge numbers in both points and assists on pretty good efficiency (considering the usage), but are/were so ball dominant that sometimes it's unclear how useful it is to the team. With Young, that was OU's downfall in the latter half of the season as his shooting went down and he turned the ball over more. Same thing with Clark in the earlier losses this season, although not as much in their last couple losses.

I mentioned how Clark was acting in the game last night and Mrs. Velo said she wasn't surprised. Apparently Mrs. Velo went to school with her mother and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Hey, this is Blake Clark's mom too!

It was. I understand. It was tongue in cheek which is why I included the comment about me needing to get a life.
