Brave beer drinkers?

Anyone ever drank any of the Kona Brewery beers? They are available in the southwest but it originates on the Big Island! I fell in love with a few Kona beers...although spending two weeks in Hawaii would make just about anything taste great!

For those of you that live in central Iowa, we really have a gem of a bar that very few people go to but has some of the best beer in the world. If you've never been to the Red Monk (Downtown above Royal Mile) you need to go there at least once. They have Belgium beer which is fantastic. It's not the type of beer you'll drink a ton of but it tastes GOOD.

The Monk is an awesome bar!

I've drank Grain Belt for every football game and would not let my fridge run empty. Its actually a pretty good beer.

Cyclone Liquors sells 6 and 12 pack bottles (have to ask whoever is working to get the 12 pack out of the back)

Any idea if you can get this in Iowa?

I bought a case of Gluek at Harlan's Food Mart in Story City. I will never make that mistake again. It is hands down the worst beer I have had aside from the aforementioned Hy-Vee Royal.

But, I only paid $6.99 for a case.

Also, I never want to see Grain Belt referenced humorously in association with bad beers. Grain Belt has been a staple of our tailgate all season and has had overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Grain Belt is:

  • A regionally produced beer
  • Not produced by a mega-national conglomerate brewery
  • Wears ISU Cyclone colors proudly
  • As nourishing for the soul as mother's milk is for the body

Rheinlander, if you see it, keep a distance of at least 5 feet. It's horribleness will find it's way into your soul! The brown bottle doesn't even hide the chunks floating in it.
