Bracket Discussion

I tend to favor playing a somewhat sketchy power conference team over a really solid mid-major most of the time.
I got called "dumb" in a separate thread for saying this same thing. By winning a game in the Big12 tourney...we made have made ourselves a 5 seed.

We will be a 4 seed...we were a 3 when the initial reveal happened, and we've dropped about one seed line in the NET since then. 10 Quad 1 wins including 6 against teams that will be a 1 or 2 seed.

Our resume will be compared with the following teams: Xavier, San Diego State, K-State, Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan State, St. Mary's, Duke, TCU, Texas A&M, Indiana. It stands up very, very well against all of them. Including us, 4 of those schools will be on the 4 line (or higher).
A four seed is high for both Indiana and Mich St.

I’d love a 4.

Just get more of a 5 feeling

My prediction: first round matchup between 5 seed Iowa State and 12 seed Drake. Hope I'm wrong.

Everyone is nervous about Drake but they haven’t played someone with defensive intensity and length like us. I am perfectly fine playing a non-P6 team because I think they will really struggle with our style. I would rather play someone like them than a Vandy.

I think we are a 4/5 and final seed will depend on other matchups and bracketing rules.

I think a four seed is a stretch, 5-6 seed would be my guess.

The chances of us playing Drake or Oral Roberts or Charleston are very high in my opinion.

I’ve said that as soon as Drake punched their invite. Don’t think for a second the committee doesn’t look for those in-state story lines. The National Invitational Tournament used to do this because of locality and cost of travel with teams because of host sites strictly (and still do to a certain degree). But the NCAA does their due diligence looking at interesting matchups with the first few rounds.

They beat Mississippi State who is ranked 9th in ADJDE. They can handle a tough defense.

And they scored 58 points in that game (granted they won).

I was looking at Drake’s schedule…woof. They’ve played 2 Quad 1 games (1-1) all year. 25 of their 33 games were Quad 3 and Quad 4.

Anything can happen in the tournament, but I’d take playing someone like that over a middling P6 team all day.

I'd rather play Charleston or Oral Roberts than Drake. They would have extra motivation. If UAB wins I could see the committee playing a sick joke on us and putting them as a 12.

You serious? Give me Penn State or Pitt or Rutgers over Drake or Charleston or Vermont 100 times out of 100.

Drake, et al, would have a better record against Quad 1 if the system wasn't set up with the sole intent of denying them those opportunities.
