If he hits the one guy with an errant punch and is swarmed by other officers and lashes out hitting others that's all it'd take, could all be the consequence of 1 mistake. He was clearly not in a state to make sound decisions.

The main mistake was leaving after curfew. And he probably wasn't alone. The rest of the story will give context for the punches. It may even show that the cop targeted him or provoked Boykin. Still, he shouldn't have been there. And I'm guessing he shouldn't have been with whomever he was with.

Boykin seems to have worked hard to get things in order. But i doubt he was out drinking with this girl and her family. His mistake wasn't drinking. It was leaving after curfew and probably with people who led him into trouble.

Exactly, punching a cop while being black is an incredibly brave/stupid move. Of course, they may not have actually happened as they often make up whatever they want.

Regardless of the circumstances, it is too bad to see Boykin in this situation after making such a good effort to get himself back on track. His was one of the great redemption stories.

It's college so if he had punched a girl in a bar it would seemingly be no biggie. Once in the pros you are generally contractually limited to punching your wife or gf and punching cops is way not good even for paid gridiron gladiators.



Punching a cop usually gets you shot dead.

Boykin was stupid The *uck was worse - who knows what he was saying or goading Treyvone to do? News reports there was a lot of trash talk before the scuffle broke out.
