When asked if ISU had made an offer to keep him, Fred said he wouldn't let them offer. Good for him - he made up his mind and he wasn't going to make Jamie/ISU grovel when it wasn't about the money and it wouldn't do any good. That would be a great ego trip, but not Fred's style.
A little off topic, but one of the few things I've enjoyed throughout the Fred-to-the-NBA process has been the Hawk fans coming out of the woodwork acting like kids on Christmas Eve, retweeting every Fred/Bulls tidbit with glee. Even saw a few of them say that now Iowa can get back to being the "premier" basketball program in the state. Anyone else think it'll be funny when ISU coach X beats them as regularly as Fred did?
They have been insufferable today. Kind of think my dog might be able to coach and beat Frannypants with the respective rosters this year.

If Monte is here for his SR year with MT, Deonte, Cooke and NN then that's just ridiculous.
- The bulls still had a coach and no open position when the rumors started. Fred didn't create the cloak and dagger method. He was caught in the circumstances.
- Does it occur to anyone that he was probably under a non-disclosure and could not say anything? How transparent has anyone on this board been when interviewing for a new job?
- Do we really blame him for not saying anything to the team? What if nothing came to fruition? On the other hand, Diallo was ready to commit to a team for four years. I am surprised Fred said what he did, but props to him for being honest.
What bothers me the most is people throwing Fred Hoiberg under the bus for pursuing his dream. He structured his contract from the beginning so that he could easily exit to the NBA, and Pollard agreed to it. You don't negotiate that if your intentions are to stay forever, and that was public information from day one. He is a hot commodity today, but may not be in one or three or five years. Wonder how many NFL teams call on Ferentz these days?
At the end of the day, he provided the fans with five exciting years of basketball. What more could we ask?
Gable only had one college coaching job. Iowa. He took that job opening because Harold Nichols wasn't ready to retire. He didn't use ISU as a stepping stone job.
I think that is part of the depression for what might have been, one more year of CFH with Diallo and current squad.
Walking into an aging roster with a meddling front office, and a fanbase who thinks the only reason you're there is because you're the only guy they could hire, isn't exactly a good opportunity.

I mean, I couldn't even say 'Hi' to anyone today because it sounded too much like 'Hoi' and would sob for roughly 5-10 minutes at a time, but otherwise, no problems.
