Boffeli a Cyclone

Again, who really cares about stars? Just because he's a 2 star doesn't mean that he's not going to be good. He prolly fits real well into what Chizik is implying. I don't care if he is a 4, 3, or 2 star as long as he gives 100% while he's here and stays out of trouble. Some 2 stars perform better than 4 or even 5 stars.

Some 2 stars outperform but not most. And some 5 stars underperform, but not most. If you like odds, and I do, give me the 5 stars please and I'll live with a few busts. You can have your 2 stars and celebrate a few diamonds in the rough.

Love it when we get the local guys we are going after. Very excited.

We spoke with him last night. After the interview, I came away feeling pretty confident that ISU was going to be his pick, and posted as much on my site last night. I think the opportunity to get a look at TE was one of the reasons.

Where did Iowa want to put him?

For those paging Big M, I believe he said that Connor wasn't at the camp due to baseball commitments he had.

He was a two start before he committed. It was either a typo or he is expected to become a 3 star. The OL drew clark is rated ahead of him in the Iowa top 10 and he is a two star as well

i saw that also. if you click his name, it shows 2 stars by it, but the article says he is a 3 star. either way, it seems like we wanted him pretty bad so i'm glad to have him on board.

That's how we got Lamaak as well. Ferentz had a scholarship for him if he wanted to come to be on the OL, but Ben wanted to try TE in college so he said thanks, but no thanks to his favorite team. Mac said he didn't care where he wanted to play, he just wanted him on the team so he said sure we can try you at tight end to start with. The rest is history and Lamaak looks to have the potential to be a four year starter on the line.

I don't know if you can put much in the star system in the case of boffeli. He only went to two football camps due to his baseball schedule (ia state and iowa). He did get several calls from other big 10 and 12 schools asking him to come to their camps. They said he was rated a certain level that if he would come to their camp there would be a good chance for a scholarship, but not sight unseen. He turned them down. He wanted to stay in state. You will never get very high in the star ratings not attending camps let alone scholarships. Plus conor is only 16 years old which is what also turned on the cyclone coaches.

Good way of picking your words. I love how hawk fans have to have a "reason" why he would pick ISU over iowa. And of course the "reason" has nothing to do with the actual FB team or staff...because who in his right mind would pick ISU over iowa if all things were equal??? Never mind the other reasons such as coaching staff or academic support.

Go read Fedderson's story. In the first answer Bofelli gave to him, playing TE vs just the line option was one of the first things Connor talked about.

Speaking of Barrent, wasn't he looking at schools with a GOOD Engineering program? Why would you choose EIU, when ISU has some of the best Engineering programs in the country?
