Yeah, cause UNI did a great job bringing the ball up vs. KU... Did you watch the last six minutes. Almost ****** a great game away by not being able to break an average press.

Good, size was what was going to keep Wes from being a serviceable player for us.
So we waste scholarships again on guys who aren't that great? How is this cycle at all breaking?
there is lots in those videos that lucca never did.. in the first one he drives and hits a turnaround jumper from about 15 ft with a hand in his face, one he takes it all the way to the hoop for a layup, he set good screens and moved off of them to get wide open 3's, he chases a player down and blocks a layup
it was a highlight video of course, so they wont show the bad, but it appears he's a lot more well rounded at this point than lucca ever was as a cyclone. dont make lucca out to be something he wasnt, he was three point shooter and did nothing else worth note EVER... lucca shot 23 free throws in 49 games as a cyclone.. 23!!! thats awful. he also shot almost 7 point attempts for ever 2 pt fg... he was nothing but a 3 point shooter and a pathetic defender.
This is true. Everyone said that we would see a different Lucca this year because he was 100% healthy, but we didn't. He still did nothing but shoot 3's. He couldn't drive, he couldn't rebound, he couldn't dribble, and he was our worst defender.
It just wasn't in Lucca's DNA to do anything except shoot 3's. That's it.
This video is a high school pickup game highlight tape! It's not the same as being guarded by 6'6 guys with 40 inch verticles like he will be in the Big 12.
Like I have said 10X in this thread. The kid could be the greatest athlete in the world but there is nothing in the video to suggest that. Or to even suggest he is more athletic and well rounded than Lucca
Doesnt really matter for the most part. We need a stand up 3 point shooter and i hate to say it, but that killed us when Lucca left. Our 3 point shooting went down like 60%.
Amen! KU was bigger and stronger than UNI at nearly every single position on the floor. But UNI made their outside shots, and KU couldn't.
Although we lack some size down low right now, we HAVE to find someone that can shoot the ball. Teams packed it in against us all year long. They will be able to do the same thing next year too if we don't have anyone that can shoot.
Everyone on UNI can knock down shots from 3... including their 7 foot center! KU was forced to come out and guard them, which opens up the middle big time. It's pretty simple. We need some shooters!
And it doesn't sound like Ejim or Phillips are really good outside shooters either? So how will we be improved in this area next season?
Ohhh.. and one other thing... we can't hit FT's either. That cost us dearly this year also. UNI goes 16-19 yesterday from the FT line, while KU was clanging them down the stretch. I'm telling you, the #1 job on offense is to put the ball in the damn hoop, correct? Well, then go get somebody that can do that!
Answer; they are going to play defense. Does this turn us into a UNI clone? No.
Does it make us better? Yes.
Look at the Forwards we have coming in. Ejim, Oliver, Wilkins (and Cook in 11).
Athletic 3s and smaller athletic 4s. This team will be built to run, if they buy in
and play D anything can happen. Bo fits in nicely as a trailer in the secondary
break. Hopefully Colvin sees the future and how much fun this team will be to run.
I don't think he'd be a wasted scholarship. We desperately need shooters and if hes the best guy we can find then we have to take him. I definitely understand what you mean but with our current recruiting situation we aren't in a position to be picky. If Barnes ends up struggling next year or maybe the year after I'm sure there would be a mutual decision to part ways like in the case of Eik, Mann, or Pomlee.
We desperately need ball handlers and a true PG. We desperately need big guys.
Thats what Im saying.. we cant waste time taking a Eik, Mann, Pomlee. That is doing the same damn thing we have done for the last 3 years. Why isnt this stopping?
If anyone has watched any NCAA tourny game thus far... any team can hang with anyone if they shoot lights out. ANY team. Look at UNI, all they do is shoot and play defense. What do you all think our offense is going to be next year? We can't say hey Brackins go ahead and score some points for us anymore. Garrett is good for driving ONLY. Colvin and Dendy can only score when they are in the lane. Ejim is suppose to be more defensively sound than offensively. Phillips is a penetrator. Outside of Scotty we have NO ONE who can shoot well.
The term "drive and kick" does no good if there isn't any one that can hit the shot once they get the ball. WE NEED SHOOTERS. From the two videos above this guy fits that status.

I would say shooting is the most of our desperate needs but thats just my opinion. It isn't stopping because we aren't able to get the depth of good talent we need in recruiting classes. Barnes might not be able to help this but I just don't think we have many other options at this point.
On espn.com Barnes is listed as the number 314th best shooting guard in the class of 2010. I didn't realize he was ranked that low.
