Big play Curvey and Deandre Jackson new BBQ

Battles was terrible every time I went there brisket was dry as **** every time.

Been excellent every time I’ve been there
The first time I was there was sometime in January or February. It was really slow but they seemed busy. Had a waitress give us a plate of someone else’s food. When we told her she just took the plate and put it on the table next to us after sitting in front of us a couple minutes. Thought that was probably a big no no in food service. We were probably there an hour and a half from time we were seated at table to getting check. Second time was more of same. Wait staff just very disorganized. Food both times was very good though.

Right off Valley West Drive and EP True Parkway in the little strip mall.

Was going to stop but family wanted Raising Kane’s. I lost out.☹️☹️

I used to work by Woodyard and we used to beat that place up.

Rosedale is also solid.

Barbeque is like pizza, it has to be really bad to be really bad. KC has a lot of okay bbq, but also some of the best you can find.

I'm glad that Des Moines is finally starting to really good options. When I lived in Iowa it was pretty much Big Daddy's down by the old Clyde Williams Stadium.

Battles was solid and I had a homie who worked there and he really hooked it up. I always ate burgers (pork pizza burger) at Hickory Park, because even back in the day I wasn't a complete noob.
Big Daddy was a character. If you'd donate a couple bucks to charity, March of Dimes or whatever it was, he'd bring over a slice of pie to ya and shoot the ****.

We gave some money to his charity to try some of his super hot sauce. It was a huge mistake. My buddy puked and I thought I needed to go to the hospital. The best part is that he talked us out of doing one of his cash challenges. A sandwich with that on it could have killed someone.

The sauce at that time was called the Survivor (he told me because he liked the TV show).
He had a challenge. You had to put up some money, have you and your lawyer read/sign a waiver, and attempt to eat the sandwich. If you won, he gave you something like $10k, if you lost your entry fee went to charity.
A good man for sure.

I had it last weekend. At first glance it is a little on the pricier side of other restaurants but the portions are very generous. Was told that their ribs are the star but the people in front of me bought them out, so I went with the sausage and a beef sandwich. Sausage was right up there with some of the best I've had. Sandwich was very good, but the star was the rub that they used to season their buns.
I love Kue'd. Like big time. Can't compare the 2 in my opinion even though they are both BBQ joints. Kue'd is constantly rotating the menu and putting their twist on traditional favorites. Pork Belly BLT , Kue'd Mi, and the Pho Kue'd for example.
At UNRVLD the meat is the star. And it is very good. I look forward to seeing if/how they keep their menu "fresh". Seems like a place I would enjoy dining in more once that is an option as well.

Get a half chicken in Texas? It’s Texas style yo not hickory park BS.
Dalmation Rub for bbq Chix is pretty much a Texas thing http://tipsforbbq.com/Definition/Dalmatian-Rub Kentucky, Tennessee plus ten other states are in the south and have great BBQ chicken. Good stuff. By the way the best bbq bird I ever had was a lime marinated Cayenne pepper rub in Texas.

We picked up brisket, ribs and Mac & cheese a couple weekends ago. We are Kue'd regulars and were pleased with UNRVLD! I liked both the ribs and brisket equally, but my wife raved about the brisket and said it was the best she's ever had! BBQ sauce was unique and awesome too. I thought the mac & cheese was just average. Thought next time we'd just pick up meat and do our own sides at home. Disappointing that they're not open during the week.
I was disappointed at first that they didn't offer burnt ends but after tasting the brisket, who cares!

Went today and I have never had better brisket. Kue’d brisket and Unrvld are kind of different but both excellent. Little
Pricy but I got a 1/2 pound of brisket, Mac and cheese and baked beans for around 20 bucks. It was enough for lunch and supper so it’s totally worth it. Plus, seeing Big Play and Jackson preparing it with Cyclone gear on is cool.
