Big 12 Referees

You have to admit the refs blew the call when Money scored at UCONN. Should have been celebration penalty.

In order to fix officiating they need to hire full time officials like the NFL. These garbage refs need to undergo proper training and job reviews by the conference. If they screw up they need to get fired or at least go on probation. With so much money riding on the sport nowadays, why not spend some on better officials? Pollard needs to push for this as a part of Big 12 reform.

The nfl doesn't have full time officials either, they all have other careers. Just like NCAA Refs.

There is so much wrong with this post

i think steele needs to pull a "longest yard" and hit some of the refs in the nuts with the ball. maybe that would teach them to play fairly. if not at least its hilarious for the fans

it doesnt matter how poorly we played since UT had a 17-11 personnel advantage on both sides of the ball all night

There was a facemask on Texas on a play where we gained about 12 yards. The refs said decline the penalty and we got the 12 or so yards, shouldn't the penalty have been added to the yards gained?

I wondered about that too. Aren't personal fouls added to the play?

no that one was when white was brought down in the backfield, he looked like a B.A.M.F. running with no helmet though

Two things. 1) There was one Shontrelle run up the middle (3rd quarter i think) where after he was down one of the Texas defenders was lifting him up by his facemask when he was still under the pile. The line judge had a fairly clear line of sight and didnt throw the flag.

Edit: I know this wouldnt have affected the outcome but poor reffing shouldnt come at the expense of player safety.

2) Isnt there a rule about the school bands not being allowed to play while the ball is live? There were many times where the UT drums where playing while there was a play going on.

I can understand Big XII refs screwing you guys against Texas...but why would they do it against UConn?

There was a SI article a while back about what factor has the most influence in the outcome of sporting events (like home field advantage). They did a massive statistical analysis across all sports and found that the only consistent factor was officials generally siding with the home team.

It was bad enough that a hawk fan called me to complain about how bad the reds were screwing ISU during the Texas game.

The catch that Money made that was ruled incomplete happened right in front of me and it was a completion. I have no idea how that was reviewed and they had indisputable proof that is was incomplete.

Right the Big 12 is ******* us. Get a grip.

You don't think the Big XII has more to gain by having an undefeated UT/OU game next week?

As I have watched the Big XII through the years, they seam to favor the team that will do the most for the league at that time. I watched KSU almost rip the NU QB's head off in plain sight (2001?), but at the time it was better for the Big XII that KSU win. Magically they did.

Need a team to get that magical 6th win to round out your bowl slate? Just review a few extra plays to take away some TD's or big gains. Not hard to do - see ISU / KU in '05.

Oh, and after the "big" win against ISU, you see UT on the front page os ESPN's CFB site: Link. Imagine that...

Worse thing about that play was they completely missed the 2 Texas O-lineman that were illegally downfield at least 15 yards before the quarterback even intentionally grounded. You could see the lineman hustling back to the line after they realized the screen throw never got off, yet officials didn't call a thing.....

Linemen down field is not a foul until the ball has crossed the neutral zone. In this case the ball never crossed the zone so no foul for linemen downfield.

My favorite was "the previous play of the runner being down by contact is under review" followed closely by "after review, the call of a fumble recovered by the offense is confirmed".

Anyone else catch this Saturday night?

haha...yes, at this point in the game whatever the refs did, didn't suprise me. terrible!

Pass interference is not a spot foul in college. It's 15 yards unless inside 15, then it's a spot foul.

That was a 37 yard catch the the official reversed? So that particular play was 22 yards worth of ISU getting bent over. Or was it a 27 yard catch?
