Big 12 POY

Hard to see Wiggins not getting it. I think Ejim would have had a real good chance but he has not been that good the last 4 games, and at least two of those were affected by his choices with technicals.

I don't mean this to seem like a slight to Ejim who is really good but I really think Kane would be my choice for ISU. He puts up a ton of stats and is more versatile. If the game is on the line its not going to be in Ejim's hand it will be in Kane or Niang's hand.

Still showing your ignorance regarding Ejim's 48 point game I see.

Against TCU? Yes.
ISU lead 10+ for the last 8:38? Yes.
Ejim scored 22 of his 48 in the last 8:38? Yes.

I would call having a 10+ point leead for all of the last 8:38 of a game at home against the worst team in the conference an "easy win". I am not saying Ejim's game was not a great accomplishment. It was. I just see hanging 41 on the road against a team fighting for the tourney (who beat ISU by 25 in the same gym) as a slightly more impressive accomplishment. I don't think that's a slight to Ejim at all.

Yes, that was an impressive losing effort.

In their last eight games:

Ejim: 14.125 ppg, 8.75 rpg
Wiggins: 19.125 ppg, 5.6 rpg

Ejim had my vote for a long time as well but I think he has had numerous off games down the stretch while Wiggins has been much more consistently productive down the stretch.

Call me crazy, but I think Staten deserves some votes. Without him WVU would be in the bottom 3 in conference.

I agree. The kid gave both ISU and KU fits in their games. That kids really good. I think four or five players may get first place votes in Ejim, Kane, Wiggins, Staten and Smart.

Yep, the fouls took their toll.

I posted this is another thread, but should post it here:

Everyone played the same schedule (except against each other) so the overall conference stats are a fair comparison. These clearly show Ejim was the better player this year. And when I add Kane, he had a better season than Wiggins too.

I agree with Bill Self: it's a "logical, no-brainer"

you forgot the ku:isu adjustment ratio for comparing players

Player of the year is not given for just the last 8 games.

I'd love to say that voters take a long time to thoughtfully break down all statistical components but they tend to be lazy "what have I seen lately" folks. Realistically, it will be a factor.

while i would love ejim to win it, I would have no problem with any of four guys winning it (ejim, kane, wiggins, staten). All deserve it. Ejim was the run-away leader up until the last hand full of games i think. But he was riding the bench at the end of too many games this season imho.
