Best kept secret restaurants in Iowa

I haven't been personally, but The Filling Station in Davenport is supposed to be very good. I hear nothing but great things from family and friends that have gone.

The other one is Whitey's Ice Cream. It's no big secret in the QC, but if you're talking to someone not from the QC they kind of dumb-awed "WTF???" look on their face, however, several travel mags have rated Whitey's among the best ice cream on the planet.

Can't agree more about Whitey's. One of the two things I miss the most about the Quad Cities, the other being the Bier Stubbe in D'port. Hy-Vee carries the quarts so I can still get my fix of Whitey's at least.

Some visuals to my previously posted Sioux City favs:

If I'm in Sioux City I'm either going to Sneaky's for chicken or the Miles Inn for some Charlie Boys.

As a QC native, I am ashamed to say I just discovered the deliciousness that is Bier Stubbe about a year ago. But I've been doing my best to make up for lost time ever since!

My favorite QC hole in the wall is Hi Ho Mongolian Grill in the Chuck E Cheese strip mall on Kimberly. Been going there long before I'd ever heard of Hu Hot and the best part is its cheap and you get to take the leftovers home.

Bier Stube - haven't been there in more than a decade, and not just because I haven't lived there in 6 years. My friends and I got families and we stopped going to places like that. But it was amazing, especially the one in downtown Moline.
