Moving into our first home next week and trying to find the best home security system that is pretty idiot proof. I like Ring. Better half is trying for something cheaper called Abode. Suggestions?

That's a great defense if they're armed with baseballs.A good deadbolt lock and a baseball bat. I have a bat under my bed and if anyone enters my home unannounced they better hope they see me coming because I will not stop swinging until they are no longer a threat.
While guns n dogs is a clever response, if you’re like me you can take my tv, couch and computer. Please don’t touch my dogs. Because dogs make a bunch of noise, they’re vulnerable to great harm just to keep them quiet.
Guns on the other hand are one of the things criminals look for first. If they find them, they take them and use them, all registered in your name.
ADT is the number one name in home security against break-ins, for fire and co2 protection, and it isn’t even close. If you’ve got the blue stop sign outside your house, bad guys keep driving and the fire dept is first to your house in the event of fire or co2 detection. If you want peace of mind, go with ADT.
We had ADT and, when we moved, had two options when disconnecting:
1. Get the new owner to sign on
2. Pay a portion of the remaining contract. No ifs, ands, or buts on that part. We ended up paying $900 just to shut off the service.
Now we have Ring. Since we don't have dogs (we're both allergic), we have the Ring motion alert tone set to dogs barking.
You could always put a fence around your place and get a lama and peacocks. The peacocks will make a heckuva racket when someone comes on the property. Lamas can be mean and will chase anyone else out.
Actually I save 20% on our homeowners insurance, an amount the covers nearly 100% of monthly monitoring thru ADT. After a year of on time payments these folks DECREASED THE MONTHLY by $10/month. Your cable friends increase your subscription after you sign on. These folks decrease them. We end up paying almost nothing after putting on a points based credit card for 24/7/365 professional monitoring.
Stay safe everybody!!
