Beathard vs. Richardson

Was Beathard injured last year? Why didn't he play against us?

I figure if he couldn't beat out Rudock, how much do we really have to fear from him?

And that's the best secondary Iowa has had in recent memory? Yikes

It is not the best secondary in recent memory. Spievey/Sash/Hyde all played NFL. Spievey first team all B1G as a senior. Hyde was named the B1G defensive back of the year as a senior. Sash first team all-B1G.

Don't listen to lieutenantdan.

True sophomore safety making his second career start tomorrow. So, its not a surprise you've never heard of him.

So Dan has proclaimed him better than Sash on the basis of one career start against Illinois State?

And back on topic, only time I have seen Beathard play was that bowl game, so I would have to go with Sam based on that.

Kirk Ferentz is a top 10 paid coach in college football, fans wear shirts that say the trust him but he put Rudock out there even though Beathard was way better and gave them a way better chance to win. Rudock had better stats last season but that's only because the WR's dropped a lot of Beathard's passes and they didn't for Rudock

Dan is crazy, and wrong.

Beatherd has a huge arm and great talent. Not sure how good a QB he is, yet. Tomorrow will tell us a lot.

0-15 is all I need to know. And I'm a super-biased Iowa State fan. I'll take Beathard until Sam proves himself.

The problem with 0-15 meaning much is that Sam doesn't play defense... and on those teams as a matter of fact nobody was playing defense for Iowa State. It's a bit much to say Sam needed to lead the ISU offense so it averaged about 50 points per game to compensate for the pathetic D that was being played.

Let's see how he does this year... the defense looked much improved against UNI and we'll find out on Saturday just how far they have really come.

Hyde and Spievey were 3 years apart. I don't even think they played together. Hyde was huge liability until his Jr/Sr year. Greenwood wasn't very good. As a group I like this secondary.

One was 3rd team and one was 4th team and that is the best secondary you can remember? Like I said, yikes

You'll see tomorrow. It's preseason CyTwins, did that escape you? It's 14 teams, did that escape you?
Any D-backs on ISU even make a preseason honor list? Shouldn't be too hard with 10 teams..

Iowa State's secondary this year is not the best that I can remember

I don't think the big 12 names 4 preseason teams

It's good to see the stupidity can flow seamlessly from basketball recruiting to football.

Well... they do have a returning safety that was a freshman All-American last season and the Big XII defensive freshman of the year. Kamari Cotton-Moya...

Harder to gain that recognition when there's 14 teams vs. 10

Especially when 5 of those teams are Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, and Maryland...stiff competition up and down the Big 10 this season. Just a complete **** conference. Hope you kept your OSU hat from last season.
