Baylor

I just don't see how having to hang on to beat Cincy by 3 is some indication of a resurgence by Baylor. They just lost to Tech by 25 the week before their bye week.

It's got more to do with us being ISU and historically get our hopes up only to be kicked in the nuts. We have been as bad as we've seen in a while, and really good. Baylor is a little bit the same way. If we get a slow start after the bye it could give them confidence.

Baylor is improving but that doesn't make them good. It does make them dangerous.

We'll control the game and get a 10 point lead into the 4th QT. They'll make comeback and get a chance to win with the last possession. It'll be up to our defense and pass rush to stop them. Their offensive line is not good and even though our rush isn't great it's good enough to preserve the lead.

We hold on to win by 3.

Baylor was also gifted a ST touchdown when Cincy fumbled a kickoff on their own 5.

Is Baylor good? No. No they are not.
Could they ball out at home, given new life with a W last week and homecoming? Yes they absolutely could.

If both teams play their "B" games, ISU wins by 10. But if ISU plays "C" and Baylor plays "A", then Baylor will win a tight one.

I think my biggest worry is the "CMC not great after a bye" thing.

Is this a known thing? I looked it up out of curiosity.

I believe the only loss from 2017-2021 in the huge comeback in Norman (19).

Can't count last year because they were bad no matter the situation.

They're going to air it out. Hopefully our pass defense holds up better than it did against the Oklahoma schools. Myles Purchase needs to have a good game.

We've been much more effective on third down with Lovett spying and coming on a delayed rush. Egeozu and Jones also have made progress in moving the QB out of the pocket. Schaben reminds me a bit of Purdy. He is very good when he has time and he will wait as long as possible before throwing it. But he can also make risky plays under pressure. You see him throw impromptu shovel passes and also back into the middle of the field late.

They got behind our safeties multiple times last season due to a lack of pass rush and confusion in the secondary. Freyler was ejected early for a bogus targeting call. Hopefully we can stuff their run early and force them into obvious passing situations. They've been really good against us at picking up 7 on first down runs and keeping us guessing.

We've had to make two furious comebacks the last two times we've been in Waco. Let's get off to a better start this year.
I'm glad they have reduced the targeting calls this year. Seems like the past few years there was at least one in every college game I watched.

I generally like the pods on "Baylor Athletics on SicEm365"
I did just left them a comment on one of their recent pods. I don't want to link it because I don't want them to receive the added clicks.

Here was my comment to them:
"Clone fan here. I generally like your show. I cannot like Baylor or its fanbase and never will until they more fully own their past and renounce it, much more than they have done. Most of your fanbase still feels Briles deserves a statue. (Case in point.)
https://sicem365.com/forums/2/topics/130442 This is not a good look. As a Christian it is a horrible look. Until your university and fanbase is much more conciliatory, I will never like or root for Baylor."

I know most of will will just say **** Baylor. I cannot disagree.

F*** Baylor.

We all agree on Iowa because, F*** Iowa. I put KState in the Iowa bucket because they are becoming purple Iowa, so F*** KState.

But Baylor is in a different level of disdain because of all the immoral things they have done in the name of being righteous and good and wanting to win above everything. F*** Baylor.

I would be ashamed if I was most of their fanbase and their university officials, not being vocally condemning of the wrongdoings of the past. Sure, the university may have given this some lip service in the past, but they don't make a point of it. They don't make it clear that what was done was wrong and should never be allowed to happen again. Neither do their fans. Their fans seem to want the past. Maybe their fans want a repeat of the same events?

As a private Christian school, that is just not walking the walk. They are not even talking the talk. It's hypocritical.

So many things about human behavior are hypocritical. But when you are a Christian or a Christian university, the magnifying lens is on and people are watching. It says a lot.
