Baylor

I thought a good chunk of our fanbase would know Coach Hines just based off JD Waggoner's tackle celebration.

While on the opposite side of the ball Baylor has no run game.

Shapen, by contrast, is about a 60% passer who doesn't throw many interceptions. Thrown for 300ish yards in several games this year. I think that's the part of the game we need to contain.

I do NOT like how our defense hasn't been nearly as aggressive since the week 1 win against UNI. Our LB core isn't strong, nor is our pass rush. So if our LB's aren't stellar in coverage, nor at properly filling gaps and making plays (in our regular scheming), I'd rather see them blitz and reduce the throwing time for the opposing QB. When we've had issues it's often been in the middle of the field, or middle deep, where our LBs drop into coverage.

I think if we are more aggressive we win. If we aren't I think we put ourselves in a dogfight and see Shapen throw for close to 300 yards.

On the other side it would be nice to see Remsburg and the line assert themselves and run all over Baylor like Cinci did. The only runner for Cinci that was a threat against us was Jones, once we took him out of the fold they struggled.

We should score, we just need to keep points off the board on the other side.

Check this out:

These people are scum
wow i thought that there would actually have some level heads that would call out the disgusting rot that program had but no, about 99% of the posters all think he didn't do anything wrong. I only saw one poster say what he did was bad. What a joke of a fanbase.

This game will all come down to if the offense shows up like it has the last couple of games, or we get the offense from earlier this year. If we can score 27/28 points ISU wins the game, if not, they can lose.

I would love to see our defense be aggressive and attack from the get-go, and not allow their QB to sit in the pocket and get comfortable and allow him some success early in the passing game. I thought we did a great job of that against Cincinnati, hopefully that will carry into this game.

I hope we don't fall into the trap of thinking we can just run the ball down Baylor's throats. We've all seen it before when a team is supposed to be horrible at stopping the run and they come in and shut us down. Need to keep the creative play calling on offense going.

We've been much more effective on third down with Lovett spying and coming on a delayed rush. Egeozu and Jones also have made progress in moving the QB out of the pocket. Schaben reminds me a bit of Purdy. He is very good when he has time and he will wait as long as possible before throwing it. But he can also make risky plays under pressure. You see him throw impromptu shovel passes and also back into the middle of the field late.

They got behind our safeties multiple times last season due to a lack of pass rush and confusion in the secondary. Freyler was ejected early for a bogus targeting call. Hopefully we can stuff their run early and force them into obvious passing situations. They've been really good against us at picking up 7 on first down runs and keeping us guessing.

We've had to make two furious comebacks the last two times we've been in Waco. Let's get off to a better start this year.

After the Cincinnati game, Baylor is feeling some sense of renewed life and hoping to qualify for a bowl game. It's their homecoming and we will get their absolute best shot. if we come out with our usual vanilla defense for their first couple of drives (as we usually do), they will throw the ball downfield and start off with a lead. If that happens, I don't like our chances.
