I will never get everyone's fascination of a wordmark that represents one of the darkest eras ever in ISU Athletics.

Very cool and I enjoy that even though that was before my time at ISU. I just don't think we will see "retro" fonts/logos used. ISU is one of the strictest universities on trademarks and I believe the AD is intent on enforcing and building the current look.

Any exceptions to that dilutes the branding effort they have been on for the past several years.

We won't mess with the lettering look (which is a custom font for ISU) and the I-state logo. Personally I like keeping what we have for 50 years vs. changing every 2 (which is a joke) back through the 70-80's.

Sadly I think you are right and we will not change our uni's. I just keep praying for the day I don't have to cheer on ketchup and mustard... Just give me the colors on the Jack Trice throwback, that's all I want...

Your very talented. I'd like to see a logo or background pic or some kind. No clue. Something along the lines of what the Nuggets have with their jerseys and you could incorporate a Cyclone theme/colors ? Maybe you could create a few different concepts and present to Fred unless they have some contract with Nike. Amazing stuff. Keep it up.

i'm not really a big fan of the grey jerseys because a) everyone does it and b) it strays away from the point of having school colors. if you just want to do something that looks cool, why even have school colors? they just don't look as bold or something. that being said, i mocked one up as per requested as well as a dirty-white san francisco giants version and a new cardinal one.

the point wasn't to be a full-on throwback (which is why i didn't change the font of the number originally) but rather an integration where it might be able to work as an alternate mark that fits with the family of our current branding. i added some vintage cy logos to the shorts and changed out the number style and added some trim around the sleeves. i don't know that the shorts really need anything else; i feel like our current shorts have that ugly swooshy stripe just for the sake of having a stripe.

i guess you can't please everyone but if people are going to point out branding issues and the use of various marks that don't follow our current objective as an identity or whatever the hell, maybe start with the fact that we have defunct cy logo that covers the entire back of our jerseys.

Because nobody under 40 really remembers the "dark" days. If 16, 17, and 18 year old high school kids like them it's good enough for me.

I agree, we were mired in suckiness with that style in football. Associated with bad memories.

IMO, grey uniforms are always ugly IMO. Unless the other color is black, it's hard to pull off
