Not that it is the best movie by any means, but Sandlot holds a special place for me, and I don't think I even watched it as a kid growing up in that era, and was a huge baseball fan. Just never had the urge to watch it. I have probably seen the movie multiple times in pieces on TV, but never really sat down and watched.
My 15 year old son loves playing baseball. He plays in a fall league, spring league, school ball in the summer, and is in the gym all winter. We had a Friday night not too long ago and he was home and just suggested we watch it. I thought he might find it too childish or corny, but he loved it.
Then again, if Christopher Nolan made a 3 hour movie about a scientist optimizing spin rate and efficiency on a curveball, he'd watch it.
