Barnes to Hawaii

I expect:
1. a tougher team (mentally and physically)
2. a team that no matter plays every minute of the game like they are playing for the pride of the school.
3. a team with a winning record (overall)
4. no defections for next year (other than the seniors)
5. a team with no excuses.
6. a team that plays as a team, and looks to enjoy being at ISU

Everything else would be regression and I'd have to rethink my thoughts.

I'm not without my own questions on whether this can happen, but, in reality, other than the head coach and our upperclassmen, we are getting a whole new stock of players.
(6-7, right? in total), some of these traits should come with them (as well as with the new coaches)

So, your expecting to see 6 things that we have yet to see from Greg Mcdermott's program at ISU.

I totally hope your right, I just don't know what would lead you to expect to see these things that we haven't seen in 4 years.

I think it's humorous that you would use Dog as the baseline of the way the average human being would think...

It's just my first thought of "non-touristy" Hawaii...so yes, I figure Hawaii is nothing more than Somoans that have skipped parol to score some ice.:jimlad:

No doubt - they have their work cut out for them...
IMO - this year WILL decide the fate of GMac...

Progress (such as listed), he'll get more time...
No Progress, not so much...

I Just want improvement every year no matter who is coaching.

Obviously you've never been to Honolulu - that charm wears off after a week there once you realize that place, beneath the facade, is expensive, dirty, crowded, s LONG way from home, and once you're there there is no escape...

I loved Hawaii both times I went. Can't wait to go back. My best friend moved out there 3 years ago, so I will always have a place to stay from now on.

Great News! His only high D-1 offer was from us. He doesnt look athletic at all. Everyone on here if he were to committ would be saying "man i think this kid could be freshmen of the year, he shoots so well!" (get a grip of yourself and realize he is a freshmen playing against the best defenders in college basketball). Bo Barnes would have had only maybe a 5% impact on this program next year. Realize that we need Juco players in here immediately. (And we still cant get them.) Not bashing the kid, he would be a decent players within the comming years if our program was stable. Redshirt him this year he plays by his redshirt sophmore year.

I think some of the things you are looking for could happen. When you have basically turned over the entire roster and pretty much the entire staff with the exception of the head coach some of the bad attributes or attitudes could be gone. Seriously... you have to wonder how guys like DG and Boozer are going to be feeling heading into their senior year based on the results of the previous 3. The fewer players remaining from the previous seasons under GMAC will be beneficial as the losing attitude "could" be less likely to catch on. Then again... if we lose a few early it will be all over.

I just hope if the Nick Nurse hire happens he helps teach GMAC the X's & O's and how to coach winning basketball. Hopefully he can help teach him how to relate to the players as well. He definitely could use the help.

let's get the excuse machine started! KG?

Honestly he is one-step above a big 12 walk-on. I'm more disappointed in the level of players we are going after rather than not getting some of them. Really folks - we could probably find a guy on campus that could take Barnes. He was nothing more than a body and would have been gone in 2 years when he didn't play.

If this is true it is sad that we are even at the low point of having to go after him. Then we get a little bit lower when he rejects our offer to go to a school that has probably never even made the NIT let alone the NCAA Tournament. Yikes...

Gotta agree here...don't ge me wrong. Losing a recruit to Hawaii is like a kick to the jewels but really, is anybody really that upset to lose this kid? Seemed like another project to me.

Hey, we needed a body to practice against. We do not want to practice against BF gals.

Maybe we will have to start to worry that this site scares off assistant coaches also....what do you think?

If a message board is enough to scare away a recruit then that program, coaching staff, and that university didn't have much to offer in the first place. End of story.

Anyone that would say otherwise is just making an excuse for that program, coaching staff, and that university.

Barnes picks Hawaii

Barnes picks Hawaii and we are 0 for two on spring recruits -- I was able to find one person who is actually happy about this. Amazing!!
