Barnes to Hawaii

Outside of the lack of Tv exposure, I have no idea why Hawaii can't compete for their conference title and NCAA birth year in and year out.

Recruitment pitch:

Dude, Hawaii.

Milosh only wants to play for Iowa State.

I feel like the program is in disrepair like most everyone else, but I don't mind not knowing who we are targeting (as long as we are still targeting).

Ignorance is bliss, right?

If I don't know who is on the radar, then I can't get all riled up when they choose to go to TCU, Hawaii, etc.

When a student athlete decides to come in and play for the good guys, I would have no preconceived notions (there's plenty of time after the fact for that) and would look at it as a pleasant surprise.

I like the info provided by the insiders, but more times than not (recently) it has led this site to false hopes and expectations, leading to let downs.

The cart before the horse, so to say.

Don't worry folks, we backed off of him...and every other guy we have missed on.

I'm trying hard to stay positive here, and it is definitely time for the staff to pull a rabbit out of their hat and pull a major coup on some recruits. If they can pull some better talent I will believe they backed off some of these guys, if they cant I will assume that we our situation is so undesireable that we can't convince guys to play Big 12 basketball over so low-major conference.

I would like to think that... but I have said that many times during the Mcdermott years, and the bottom just keeps getting lower and lower.

The day is coming where we start losing kids to D-II basketball.

All you negative nancies should start coaching...
I'm sure then, we'd never have problems...

Let it play out.
Not saying, if we wanted this kid, losing him is good news, but, it's not over yet.
IF can't field a decent team by end of spring, i'll eat my words
Better start chewing!!!

Obviously you've never been to Honolulu - that charm wears off after a week there once you realize that place, beneath the facade, is expensive, dirty, crowded, s LONG way from home, and once you're there there is no escape...

I just think of Dog the Bounty Hunter chasing base-heads all over the island.

Wait.... what is his definition of "decent" ?

I expect:
1. a tougher team (mentally and physically)
2. a team that no matter plays every minute of the game like they are playing for the pride of the school.
3. a team with a winning record (overall)
4. no defections for next year (other than the seniors)
5. a team with no excuses.
6. a team that plays as a team, and looks to enjoy being at ISU

Everything else would be regression and I'd have to rethink my thoughts.

I'm not without my own questions on whether this can happen, but, in reality, other than the head coach and our upperclassmen, we are getting a whole new stock of players.
(6-7, right? in total), some of these traits should come with them (as well as with the new coaches)
