Band members

The sports teams seem to get at least a thread per year on uniforms. Can't the band get one each decade? :jimlad:

I'm okay with a band uni thread but didn't want to tick off the regulars. I even added extra $$ to my NCC $$ specifically for band uni's with the request that they didn't call me 45 times asking for more money.

In my two years with Smith it became near impossible to get any underclassmen to let loose with us. I know band is about more than partying, but I felt it hurt the comraderie on the practice field as well. I'm still best friends with people from band more because of the parties than anything else. It would make me sad if noone went to Buffalo, Agent Orange, or full band parties anymore.

When freshmen show up and are treated just like they were in high school band, it makes it tough for them to realize theres more to it than practice and gameday.

That said, before Smith got there, there were a lot of people just content with walking around and barely playing their instruments. It got old at times since I was much more of a perfectionist than that.

I'm thinking that an alum will probably be able to find the best of both worlds.

EDIT: Crap I miss band.

I think a LARGE number of posters can assure you that those two traditions are alive and well.

How long am I going to have to wait to see a 2-deep for the snare drum line? Will we be able to survive a transition period with a new director before he can land some new snare talent?

I want to see a real picture now... Becker's designs often look great on paper but dont quite translate into real life. (he's designed a few drum corps uniforms that did that at least..)

The portrayal is pretty accurate to what I saw for a prototype. Minimal if any variation to the actual deal.

I think the best thing about the design is that there is no white.
That was one of the worst things about the old unis.

I'm sure a lot of people will miss "flipping the bird' though.

Flipping the bird went out with the logo change. They stopped using the bird and blender when the new I-State became the primary mark.
