Available bye week opponents

When the game kicked off, John Walters said there was a 30% chance of rain tonight. There was zero reason to change the game time. In fact, it would of been foolish to do so. Your argument is 100% hindsight based.
Oh, is 7pm the only time SDSU could make this game happen?

Nice try, but this isn’t hindsight, it’s common sense. If you want 7pm games in the summer you better have a better contingency planned for unexpected storms than canceling the game.

Yes, I sure hope so! You plan for the worst.

If 7pm was the best forecast compared to earlier in the day, then fine I understand that reasoning. But now Pollard is using the rain excuse for not playing Sun/Mon. You can play in rain. So he wants us to believe it's going to lightning for 48 straight hours? i just checked and there are forecasted times of no rain or storms, so why isn't he believing that forecast?

I don't care about any fan disappointment. Figure out a way to play the game. Heck, go play in the UNI dome tomorrow if that's an option.

Campbell didn't want to play tomorrow so blame him and not Pollard.

Yeah I understand. In all seriousness, this has been one messed up spring/summer of weather for Iowa. Hope there's not anymore bad flooding in the coming weeks.

What really sucks is this team has no Game 1 faults and fixes heading into Iowa city...and they do. Really really not good.

Stanley didnt hvae a very good game throwing today...which means he got rid of the rust and will go like 30/35 and 4 TD’s like last year.

On the plus side, TTOE only has one series of offensive and defensive tape of ISU to go off of

You have never studied anything related to logistics have you.

I was hoping they'd play the game last night:
1. So I could say I was at the "longest" Cyclone game
2. There were a lot of of high $$$ seats on the 50 yard line unoccupied that I was eyeballing.

The crowd was great and the team looked good (for 4 minutes and 5 seconds).

What contingencies? Neither coach wanted to play Sunday, so that would of never been an option. You're brought up playing the game earlier in the day, but with a 50% or less chance of storms last night, why would you play the game earlier?

I'm not trying to "prove" anything, and no, I'm not a logistics expert but . . . why could this not have all been spelled out in the contract with SDSU? We pay them in full for one offensive series each?!?!? THAT's what I think the failure to plan for contingencies is.

We shouldn't care what the SDSU coach wants. It should all be in the contract in advance. Something like, game cancelled during firs quarter, you get 1/4 pay. Game cancelled 2nd quarter, you get half pay. You only get full pay if you play an official game. That's literally the purpose -- we're paying them for an easy win!

Rooms should be set aside for a visiting "pay to play" team; doesn't have to be fancy, could be an old dorm room or a roach motel as the contingency, and then, write into the contract that they MUST stay overnight and try to play Sunday if they want to be paid.

I understand the coaches don't want to miss one day of practice, but (1) don't care what the SDSU coach thinks, and (2) maybe we just need to take the small hit to get the game in.

Why could that / should not that have all been in place?

That seems like a contact that most schools would not sign.

I wonder if they have clauses like that in the SEC and ACC, where thunderstorms are more common during this time of year. Not to mention hurricane season.

Because it's a facility that's not suitable for real game conditions? Someone earlier said you can't punt on one side of the building.
Nebraska was in the same situation. The Texas Tech at Oklahoma game, maybe 8-9 years ago, which completed ~ 5 am the next day, apparently resulted in limits to these type of delays. It seems straightforward enough to establish some "practice facility rules" that would allow completing a game in an adverse weather situation. For instance, a punt could be a 40 yards position change, but no deeper than the 20 yard line. Other problems easily solved would be the need for players to change shoes from natural turf to field turf, camera angles, and instant replay. These type of things are very low cost in comparison to the value of completing a scheduled event of this magnitude. And it wreaks of common sense.

If Isu and Nebraska are 5-6, then that is the only way to play each other to get into a bowl game. Nebraska could try to reschedule SDSU if they aren’t in the playoffs for another pay day or Akron.

I’m not 100% sure if ISU could play Akron twice. I know there’s a FBS team playing another one twice this year but not sure how that’s counted for bowl wins. Bad news is if the NCAA allowed it the game would be at Akron.

Nebraska is in a better situation to get the game back. Need some more cancellations.
