That's exactly how it will go.
It's the first cancellation since JFK assasination in 1963 I saw so I doubt this one game means no more 7pm opening week again. Only other time I remember a game not happening was when we moved the Iowa game to the end of the season in 2001 after 9/11.
Why not? I've heard it done before. Some games were preemptively changed last season with the hurricane. Keeping the fans happy is way below the priority of playing the game, whether people see it or not.
It’s not hindsight that an earlier kickoff leaves more wiggle room for this. Contingencies are only hindsight to those that are unprepared. Canceling 1/12 of your season due to a normal weather event is event planning by an amateur.
When the game kicked off, John Walters said there was a 30% chance of rain tonight. There was zero reason to change the game time. In fact, it would of been foolish to do so. Your argument is 100% hindsight based.
Completely agree. According to some on here, Pollard was making his decision based on a bright, sunny "forecast" timed perfectly for game time. Got caught flat-flooted, no anticipation or contingency whatsoever.
And EVERY weather report yesterday said that playing at night would be better than the afternoon today. Hell, I looked at the weather before leaving the hotel to walk to the game at 5:30 and there were very low chances for rain/storms before 10:00pm. And hell, it's not like Ames got heavy rain before I left town at 10:00. It was the ******* lightening.
It was ****** luck, but I don't blame anyone at Iowa State for it.

And again, the forcast was for possibility of rain all day but up until 5:30, it seemed like the best bet would have been playing at night.
Iowa State has played a **** ton of night games. This is the first one cancelled in over 50 years.

I guess Drake won’t work because they’re non-scholarship. Southern and Presbyterian are interesting possibilities for 12/1 that wouldn’t require a NCAA wavier. Southern got destroyed by TCU today. Presbyterian tried to schedule an FBS school but couldn’t find one for this season

You know that they knew about the hurricane. Scattered thunderstorms aren't exactly the same thing.
And if they had tried to pick the best time to play, they would have picked at night based on the forcast.
