Assistant Coaches Issue (WES)

Speaking of assistants. Why did Prileau move from an assistant in the Big XII to an assistant at TCU? I can't imagine it was a pay increase. Is he closer to home? Seems very odd.

A popular reason given at the time was that he was moving to second in command at TCU, and better positioning himself for a head coaching job.

Morgan's players were not thugs. They pretty much had no problems off the court, much, much better than in the Eustachy Floyd days. I only wish all of our players played with the fire that Stinson did.

You people that call those guys thugs have no freakin clue what a real "thug" is. A thug robs Burger King or beats a girl, just because a black guy argues with a ref at times does not mean he is a thug!

I'd have to agree. Although play may have been undisciplined at times, those guys weren't in trouble, and although we may have been able to be better with Blalock and Stinson, they still gave us some good years. You don't win in the Big XII if you don't know at least a little bit what you are doing.

Regarding the divided fan base, I was wondering about that on my way to work. How do we go about healing this thing? For our purposes, it would start here with us. So how do we do that?
What kind of things need to be said, mainly amongst ourselves, to make this happen, and bring the divided fan base back together?

Ok, it is obvious that you and the previous poster have a different definition of the word "thug." One reason for this is that the previous poster is using the word in terms to basketball while you are using it in terms of inner city life. You have prescribed your definition onto his words and thus you can easily come to a radically different conclusion than was intended by the author. I will not pretend to know what the original poster meant by his use of the word but I have an idea. So, a good way for me to get a better understanding would be to ask what he means by the word "thug" before making negative assumptions. He might not think of a thug as a large black man who beats women and robs burger kings.

I have no idea what the original poster meant when using the word. Certainly didn't seem to be done in a good way at all. And most of the time, the word "thug" has a very negative connotation to it. And to boot, it's not a rare occurrence that racial undertones come in that package.

Again, we have no idea...

- What the OP meant using thug.
- If anything he posted was true.
- Who he is and/or why he has such "info".
- If as a result of Wes being such a big wimp, he sleeps with a baby-blue blanky at night.

You can be Swayze. I'll be Devastator.

Good grief...another stellar first post, tossing someone under the bus.

ME = 10,000 posts so I am superior. You = first post loser.

What are we caveman? I love it. Nobody is allowed to post unless they have thousands of posts built up. My goodness. Get a life.

The press conference should reunite the fan base today. Frankly the fan base is untied in their displeasure of this recent event. Fault lies with the player and the coach to the point we lose a great player who will only be better in a couple of years.

Just a minor observation.

It does not seem like it is too hard for a coach to tell if a player is unhappy if he has been unhappy all year. I would think communication would be extensive at that point. It appears someone turned off the radio instead.
If he is your mainstay for the future, you must try harder to communicate. A trip to Corsicana might not have been necessary. If I was Greg, I would call the other cast members into my office and discuss how they feel. it appears there at least five others discontented.

At the same time, are we all happy working at our day jobs? Getting better takes hard work, yet it is rewarding. If Wes had not broke his ankle, he might have been a happier camper last year. Sounds like he had his mind made up by himself. Michigan would be a good stopping point as we could watch him play on the BTN with his team.

Some of you just don't get it - at all. If you'd read around, you'd know post count is far from the issue with me. It's these random guys coming out of the woodwork with "inside info", claiming to know all and then throw a couple people squarely under the bus.

BTW...look for a post from some authority figure from India to pop up soon. Reportedly he just inherited a ton of money and wants to give some of it to you! He just needs your bank account info...

We could stop arguing about past coaches and why they should/should not have been fired since at this point it makes absolutely no difference at all.

We could stop throwing our own players under the bus as we did after several games last year.

We could stop saying that some of the players on our team don't deserve scholarships.

We could stop saying our coach isn't right for the job and/or that he needs to go. This is the biggest one. We have had 4 different coaches in 10 years...that isn't good. We can't keep changing them every 2-4 years and expect to have any kind of success.

We could stop all of these things, but we won't. It's a message board, there will always be people who constantly and repetitively do these things (me included at times). It would be boring around here if everyone agreed. But I do think that doing less of these things would help.

India?

I have never gotten one from India, plenty from Nigeria...but never India. I will be on the lookout.

p.s. it is this very condesending tone that makes people think that you should consider toning it down. Now of course you won't but when I was 28 I thought I knew everything as well.

This one is the one that really bothers me. Especially when a guy is working his butt off and isn't up to people's expectations. Once someone has a scholarship, I think that discussion is closed. They are a Cyclone and part of our team.

I could tone it down (and will apologize to those that deserve it), yet if I did - I wouldn't have these weekly posts from you reminding me how much of a bad boy I've been.

I love how someone will chide me for the know-it-all, high-and-mighty posts - yet exhibit the same behavior.

I am overly frustrated with the random fools trying to get us to believe this guy or that guy are the big bad person here. We don't know and may never know. But to expect us to believe someone that just showed up yesterday claiming to know all is very foolish.

And it would be a lie if I said this frustration wasn't boiling over.

weekly? hyperbole?

You certainly aren't one of the "fools" sharing an opinion now are you? You want respect, but somehow feel compelled to call others fools-huh.

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

It's a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please,
Won't you please,
Please won't you be my neighbor?

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

I won't be critical (after last night bashing), but with anyone new coming on this board lately with inside info, I would like to know your credentials before I take it too seriously.

If you worked for the athletic programs or know someone, then simply tell us. At least throw us a bone. That way you don't get the cold shoulder treatment.

It's a message board. You don't have to provide a resume to post knowledge. If you don't want to believe move on.

You guys have been way to uptight about this crap lately. This board is full of rumors and speculation. I could tell you I work for the administration before I post some BS but that doesn't make it any more true.

It was sad to see a post that still calls the Morgan years "thug ball". If that means winning records, post season wins, and wins over top ten teams, I'll take more thug ball anytime. I suspect what thug ball means to some people is fast, athletic NBA type basketball as opposed to a slower game with more passing and offensive sets. I wonder if the guy that called Morgan ball thug ball would also like to bring back the set shot. He needs to watch a few more final 4's. If ISU is going to compete with the big boys, we are going to have to recruit and keep NBA type athletic guys.

Never been able to actually type on this thing until I graduated recently, but now I can say whatever. But I've been close enough to this situation to tell everyone that McD is a good, (HARD) coach and Wes can't handle that type of coach. Any fan could see this from the arena circle. Every time McD looked like he was gonna explode Wes would look like he would go cry in the corner like he just got hit with the big wooden spoon.

As for McD not being the player coach is no big deal to me, we've all seen what that type of coach does to a program (Morgan) = (Thug Ball). Well the point behind this is the assistant coaches are supposed to be the players coach and have the emotional connection with the players while the head coach worries about the larger problems. So when it comes down to it Wes was to big of a wimp to handle a hard coach and there was no assistant coach to pick him up.

And you were able to gather all of this by watching games in the arena circle? Also, careful with the "Thug Ball" reference. McD's recruits have gotten into more trouble off the court than WM's players did.

I have to say, I recently watched the replays on Mediacom of our game at home against Virginia, and the NIT game against Rutgers (both during the Morgan era) and personally, I'd take those teams in a heart beat over our current one.
