That's interesting. I have no idea what McD is like as a coach in terms of how hard he is on players, but I do remember him being quoted in the Register back when he was at UNI saying that "he's not much of a yeller".
If it's true that he's a real pain to play for, that would surprise me. I don't think he ever had that type of reputation at UNI.
He didn't. I used to work in Cedar Falls and the company I was with would employ a few players during the summer. I got to know a few of them pretty good. Not one of them ever had a bad thing to say about Mac. They all had a lot of respect for him and gave off the impression that he was great to play for. Now these kids were all mid-western kids. Not saying kids from the city are bad but they may have a harder time relating to Mac and he to them.
My cousin was also the student trainer for Mac while at UNI. She has nothing but respect for him. He still will send her a message from time to time to check up on her .
These reasons are why it's so hard for me to throw Mac under the bus.
