Assistant Coaches Issue (WES)

He didn't. I used to work in Cedar Falls and the company I was with would employ a few players during the summer. I got to know a few of them pretty good. Not one of them ever had a bad thing to say about Mac. They all had a lot of respect for him and gave off the impression that he was great to play for. Now these kids were all mid-western kids. Not saying kids from the city are bad but they may have a harder time relating to Mac and he to them.

My cousin was also the student trainer for Mac while at UNI. She has nothing but respect for him. He still will send her a message from time to time to check up on her .

These reasons are why it's so hard for me to throw Mac under the bus.

They most certainly do. Yet 99.9% of the people around here don't break their cherry claiming to know the inside secrets. And when they do, most of the time it's some troll looking for kicks.

Last night there were two. This guy (ripping on Wes, all his fault) and another (ripping on Greg, all his fault). Two "people", two completely opposite stories - both claiming to be in the know.

Hmmmm....

Regarding the divided fan base, I was wondering about that on my way to work. How do we go about healing this thing? For our purposes, it would start here with us. So how do we do that?
What kind of things need to be said, mainly amongst ourselves, to make this happen, and bring the divided fan base back together?

Sorry, I'll change my methods and blindly buy into whatever some random guy with no history or credibility says on the interwebs.

If I did that, I'd think Wes is a crybaby coward and Greg is a jerk and all the players hate him.

I don't think it's that. I think he's referring to the vitriolic first-time posters that come in, launch some verbal grenades, and scoot on out without answering anything about their posts.

FWIW, I would also add all the first-time posters that copy and paste that same post in every thread their mouse will left-click them into. That gets old to read, IMO.
 
Speaking of assistants. Why did Prileau move from an assistant in the Big XII to an assistant at TCU? I can't imagine it was a pay increase. Is he closer to home? Seems very odd.

As for McD not being the player coach is no big deal to me, we've all seen what that type of coach does to a program (Morgan) = (Thug Ball). Well the point behind this is the assistant coaches are supposed to be the players coach and have the emotional connection with the players while the head coach worries about the larger problems. So when it comes down to it Wes was to big of a wimp to handle a hard coach and there was no assistant coach to pick him up.

Morgan's players were not thugs. They pretty much had no problems off the court, much, much better than in the Eustachy Floyd days. I only wish all of our players played with the fire that Stinson did.

You people that call those guys thugs have no freakin clue what a real "thug" is. A thug robs Burger King or beats a girl, just because a black guy argues with a ref at times does not mean he is a thug!
 
What I hate is about this topic is, whenever a team is struggling it's either because the coach is to tough and the players hate him or it's because the coach is too soft and there is no rule. It's the easiest excuse for anyone to make.

I think it just shows how important balance is to a program. You can't be too soft or too hard, you have to find that middle ground.

Sorry if I sound like I am picking on you. I really am not but I just saw a great example for something which can be used to help get our fan base back together a little bit.

Ok, it is obvious that you and the previous poster have a different definition of the word "thug." One reason for this is that the previous poster is using the word in terms to basketball while you are using it in terms of inner city life. You have prescribed your definition onto his words and thus you can easily come to a radically different conclusion than was intended by the author. I will not pretend to know what the original poster meant by his use of the word but I have an idea. So, a good way for me to get a better understanding would be to ask what he means by the word "thug" before making negative assumptions. He might not think of a thug as a large black man who beats women and robs burger kings.

Just saying one way to help our fans united is to be more level-headed about reading and responding to posts instead of making assumptions which may not be true.

Again, sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you, you do have a point. I'm just needed an example and yours was the first I found.
