Another recruiting MISS

Say you're new to town. Prom is coming soon.

You meet a girl and get along with her great. She is a little overweight, but not enough to make it a deal-breaker in your mind.

She asks you to go to Prom with her, and you say you are interested.

On Monday, you go to school and tell some people about your invitation to Prom. They immediately start calling the girl "Moby ****" and emphasize all her failed relationships in the past.

After reflecting on their feedback, are you still interested in going to Prom with her? Do you trust your initial instincts or are you influenced by these third-party reports?

Message boards matter. Obviously, the best course of action is to lose the extra pounds next year so the problem goes away, but that doesn't help in getting a date this spring.

You're saying shes overweight, but not too overweight, and she has many failed relationships. However, if she just loses a few pounds, everything is fixed, and she will no longer fail in relationships?

This website is just another excuse for JP, his minions, and the people that are affiliated with McDermott to blame there mistake on. They keep looking for excuses and now have found one in a message board.
All I know is that eventually they will run out of excuses.

But I think someone might still be hiding on the grassy knoll, that has not been used yet.

Also heard a theory that Chuck Norris doesn't like ISU basketball and threatened to punch all babies in the face if Gmac ever had a winning record. So basically Gmac is holding true to his great integrity by losing to save the babies. As the father of a baby girl I thank you Gmac.

I love how this is continually brought up, like recruits are the most sensitive people on the face of the earth. I'm guessing when Enron was in the news for all their crap, you didn't need a message board to tell that it MIGHT not be a good place to work, just like im guessing the fact that 2/3s of McDermott's recruits have left have told possible recruits ISU MBB MIGHT not be a stable program right now.

And this just made me laugh out loud...
But my all-time favorite is the "other websites are worse than ours" approach. Right, that's like saying my coworkers are all acting like ***** so I will too!. How stupid. I don't care what KU's website is saying. Frankly, the fact that KU and UNC was upset at anything should just go to show if you're THAT upset about something...put the keyboard down! All you do is make yourself look foolish.

Are your co-workers making millions in the same field while you are sitting in your polite, full of sunshine little world and barely above the poverty line? If so, perhaps you should investigate a career or attitude change. Whether you like it or not, college athletics is big business, results matter. You don't get participation medals for competing.

Yep, this message board hurt us recruiting this kid. This message board that isn't university sponsored or advertises drove a kid away. Not the fact we have been in the bottom 1/4th of the Big 12 the last 3 years. Not the fact that our coach has wasted adequate talent. Not the fact that players seem to spend a year here and run as far away from Ames as they can. Not the fact that he would come in and play with 2 seniors.

So let me get this straight, this kid comes on this site, finds out that some fans don't like our coach, and decides to bail? You really think he and his coaches haven't done a little more research than that? You really think he would go here, read the newspapers, talk to people in Ames, and think to himself "I had no idea Coach McDermott was in trouble of losing his job...he's had such a great track record!". PLEASE.

So the fan base, including bloggers destroyed Iowa's football program after the 6-6 season in 2007? Fire Ferentz! Fire Ferentz! Blogs were going nuts, arrests all over the place. 9-4 in 2008, 10-2 in 2009, ya I see the fan base has alot to do with the downfall of ISU basketball. :jimlad:

I talked to a former recruit's dad yesterday...and he still looks at CF daily, although his son chose to go elsewhere, and he expressly stated that he believes CF hurts ISU recruiting.

That same kid must have only been recruited to other schools that are too small to have thriving message boards...because any other school in our situation would act the same way. If their message boards are more tame, it is simply because their program is stable. To me, this is an either/or proposition.

Obviously you dont believe that or you wouldnt be posting here.

What do you know, you're just some young damn kid!:jimlad:

Again, the proper use.

Did you also ask him how the present coach's .281 conference winning % was hurting recruiting? Or how all the recent transfers were hurting recruiting? Or how not making post season under the current coach was hurting recuriting? Or how WJ going to another school and becoming a star is hurting recruiting?

Than it hurts every school. Every single time I have gone to another schools board, I always leave thinking that CF is not near as negative and bad.

If for one second you think that CF is the main reason we are not getting recruits, than youre off your rocker. It may play a small part, but the other issues within the program play a much greater part.
