Another potential OC hire- Nick Quartaro

I'd actually take Kevin Johns over Littrell. Didn't realize he was Co-OC. Has a pretty impressive resume. What really sticks out to me about the guys Rhoads should be going after is success at a non-traditional BCS program, such as Indiana or Northwestern.

Agree. Don't know who calls plays at Indiana though. If Sturdy was moved to OC, I'd love to bring in Johns as WR coach.

Umm...the coaches are the reason there's so much less of a talent gap than there was, say, four years ago.

Duh.

And here I opened this thread to mention that these threads are getting as bad as the "another potential transfer" threads in the hoops forum...

As the individual who started this thread, I'm going to point out that suggesting a former BCS OC and a guy with Iowa State ties as our future OC is a pretty legitimate reason for starting a thread.

I've listened to every postgame (both radio and with the full media) and every weekly presser. I don't listen for information to support my own opinions. I listen for evidence of what CPR's takeaways were for that particular game. By far, Rhoads was more frequently concerned with the offensive coaching than he was satisfied, and you don't have to read between the lines or have selective hearing to come away with that conclusion.
Seriously? Even "more frequently", as you put it, still doesn't equate to quoting CPR as saying it's a "big" concern.

So, if you also watch/listen to the weekly Paul Rhoads show on TV, you'll have seen how clearly he has endorsed Messingham's play calling at various points this season. I don't have to "draw any conclusion" to point that out.

If I were to do so, I suppose I'd guess that while CPR has had concerns from time to time, he feels that his OC has improved as the season has went along. That's just a guess, mind you.

Perhaps he's just saying nice things to help Messingham get another job elsewhere. I dunno. I can't read CPR's mind--but I'd have to say it was one of the two.

If mess is here. My season tickets are gone. I cannot buy in to the concept that we can do the same and expect different.
Well, if you're putting your judgment ahead of CPR's--whatever he decides, good luck with that.

So if Mess is retained and we suck offensively, and then another year we suck, and another, then who is to blame? Is it the players again because they lack talent and can't execute? Or do we finally say, "Mess, we are going another direction. Because the only way your offense works is if we have far superior talent to every other team in the country. And even then your offense sucks because everyone is stacking the box and knows what the play is before we run it."

Mess isn't going anywhere. Best to accept it.

Oh, Mess is going at some point - either out the door after one of these seasons by CPR's hand, or out the door following CPR when he's been given his walking papers after several bad years, mostly due to inept offense.

I appreciate your defense of the current staff and, who knows, you may be right. But I can't buy that our offense hasn't had a quality QB since Mess took over. He has cycled through four QBs and hasn't gotten consistent production out of any of them. He has to own at least a tiny little piece of that, doesn't he? Offensive talent not ready to play at a high level? I saw Bundrage, Wimberly, Jarvis West and Richardson go toe to toe with Texas 4* and 5* guys with my own eyes. Beyond frustrating that we haven't found a way to get the ball into QB's hands multiple times a game. If Rhoads doesn't make changes that's fine with me. But he completely owns the outcome of that decision, good or bad. No excuses accepted this time next year if we are staying home for the holidays again.
3 of the 4 playmakers mentioned have been injured for numerous games this season. Just sayin

But according to many on this board, Rohach is better than Richardson anyway. So why would that hurt the offense? James White was a starter at the beginning of the year before Wimberly was. Jarvis West wasn't a starter either. Interesting that 2 of the 4 playmakers are on the bench to start the year. So there must be other playmakers as well.

Yes I realize that. However, I mention their names only to argue that we don't have that big of a talent gap relative to others, especially the bottom half of the conference. Too many on here saying, "we don't have the players." We have pretty good players relative to our peers in my opinion. I regret leaving Bibbs and Farniok off my list as well. Thanks for the chance to amend my point.

Your mistake is listening to "many on this board".

Like I said.
