Of course Bill Self would have complained if they called a charge! Are you kidding me? Go **** yourself

I'm a lifelong Kansas Jayhawk fan. The James H. Hilton Coliseum is named after one of my ancestors. I have family that lives in Iowa. Obviously, I only want the best for Iowa State.

“I would say, ‘Hey we were fortunate we got a no-call there,’†Self said. “It could have easily been a charge. (But) how many times at the end of games do you have no-calls in those situations? “We were fortunate. I will not say we weren’t. It could have easily been called and if it was I couldn’t have complained. On the flip side, there are a lot of calls in a game that you could say, ‘Maybe that could go the other way.’ It was a hard game to call. It’s gotten a lot of national attention. I guess the league office felt they had to make some sort of statement.â€

“If we are going to get in the business of publicly making statements off of every bad call, let’s go back to the opening tip,†Self said, “because there are a lot of times the third foul on a big guy in the first half is the difference between winning and losing or second foul with 15 minutes left if it’s a bad call can be difference between winning and losing. It was a good crew (Mark Whitehead, Tom O’Neill, Bert Smith). I don’t think our bench was ecstatic on the way the game was being called either. I don’t think their bench was. It was a hard game. There were good players making plays.â€

If that's how you want to play it then they absolutely should of swallowed the whistle on the Babb foul and the Niang foul. Those were loose ball fouls. On the Babb foul Rutherford could of easily been called as well and on the Niang foul Johnson was lying on top of Niang.

And I think those are what people are talking about when they say officials shouldn't determine a game not on a play where everyone outside of KU says it is a textbook charge and has to be called.

Its amazing how butthurt KU fans are that everyone outside their bubble isnt coming down on their side about this, after years and years of complete adoration by the media and the officials. Theyre doing everything, from trolling our board, to repeating the same crap all over reddit, to blowing up the idiotic tweets of a couple morons in our fanbase just to try to deflect from the fact that they should not have won monday.

they know as Bill Self knows that they were exposed on national TV. Suddenly all of those favorable calls might not be so easy to come by. I kind of think old Bill woudl trade the win to not have that statement issued.

Agreed. Self was near tears every call that went against him. He would've ripped his STD-infested **** off and thrown it at a cheerleader if the charge was called.

... so what you are saying is that ISU got screwed not only at the end of the game... but throughout most of the game as well...

Exactly! It was a pretty ironic statement by a coach that got a T literally two minutes into the game. I've NEVER seen that before. But we're supposed to believe he wouldn't complain if the call at the end went against KU? RIIIIIGHT

sorry but even as a Cyclone fan, I have to disagree with you. Young raising his hand is just smart basketball. Obviously, the refs were idiots for getting it wrong and believing Young, but that is just good awareness from Young

What Young did is not good basketball or awareness - it's dishonest and bad sportsmanship --its being a cheat -- but that is what KU does. I would hope that our coaching staff wound never condone this type of play-- and I really don't think they would. Let's not stoop to KU's level.

I will tell you what I tell most condescending KU fans: GFY.

Reaching here. This has been done at all levels of basketball for many years and is considered smart heads up play. Blame the ref for not making the right call.

Holy ****! This is weird guys... Phog Allen Field House is named after one of MY Ancestors. I have family that lives in Kansas. Obviously I only want the Earth to open up and swallow that entire fan base.

And before any of you call me a liar... I put it on the internet so its true.

TL : DR

**** KU

I kind of blame ourselves too. I kind of would like to see a littel more aggressiveness from OUR coaching staff in making sure the ref's aren't screwing us. If Fred H. isn't this guy, he needs a designated assistant who is willing to call out the referees, draw attention to BAZINGLY obvious bad calls, and take a technical foul if necessary to cut through the sensibilities of biased referees. We--and the rest of collegiate American--has to play KU differently than other teams and you have to be on double secret referee watch. Lord, how many more years do I have to watch this crap. It would have been so refreshing to see ANYONE from Cyclone administration ***** slap those referees. I would buy Jamie Pollard steak for life from Rubes if he would have chest-bumped those crooks that stole that game.
Oh yeah, KU GFY.

Oh well! Can't say that I've received a warm welcome. You may not even remember James H. Hilton but I'm proud. The Big 12 Conference acknowledges that officiating errors were made and they were made both ways or for and against both teams. However, the attitude that appears to be growing in your fanbase certainly is not good. Some say this is a reflection of the coach or administration. I sincerely hope not.

These post are more tuff as rain than proud...

Kansas: The only team to ever score a 3-point basket after rebounding the first shot of a two-shot free throw penalty and be allowed to keep the points on the board. And they end up winning in overtime. Their coach didn't think that was a big deal either.

KU is a joke.

Geez, is this where you think you can win your point? My viewpoint is Kansas lost except it was 8 on 5.

Just because you can do it doesn't make it the right thing to do. Raising your hand for a foul that was committed 4 feet from where you were standing on the floor -- that's dishonest. If that's ok and is good basketball then no wonder our society is all screwed up.

i agree with this. Why not let TJ go ape on these guys. Self decided to get a T at the tip off. Obviously that was planned as he knew Fred wouldn't match his relentless assault on the refs and in the end it worked for him. Not blaming Fred but Self was in the zebra heads all night and was given the game for his efforts. Crazy fan rebellions are another possibility. No way these refs will do this crap again in Hilton when you have a fan base that is ready to take matters in their own hands.
Fans stayed to boo sports center interviews. Self will be booed every time he comes to Hilton. Lets hope Fred can match the talent as this is going to be an epic battle for years to come after what happened this year.
