animal science looking for res. hall

Is there ever any problems with willow and larch being so far from main campus. Such as extra long stumbles home or longer walks in the cold? Or just being furthur from bars?

You've got a while to go before you can enter the bars. Tisk Tisk.

I lived in Old RCA (BWR, Lyons, Oak-Elm area), and never had a problem. It may take longer than if you lived in Lindon, especially for house parties, but getting to class was never a problem. While in the dorms, (assuming a frosh), you're going to be taking a lot of gen ed classes, which are on central campus. Should be pretty easy to get to.

You were accepted yesterday for this fall? You will not get a choice in residence halls, if that is the case. We are moving people into dens this fall at ISU. Most of my students who didn't turn in res hall info til later in the spring are in towers.

You can loft the bed in any room. All dorms come with lofts except for Helser, Friley, Oak, Elm, Larch, and Willow.

Oak and Elm are all female. The rest are some coed mix (different halls will mix genders differently).

If you're a party animal/quite social, avoid Martin and Eaton.

Narrowing that all down for you within your own parameters, looks like Old RCA (minus Oak and Elm) and Maple are what you want to look at. I've heard mixed reviews about Maple, so maybe take a look at some of the Old RCA's (Linden, Freeman, Barton, and Lyon).

But you'll be in a den anyway so don't worry about it.

My ex-CA from Helser was telling me last year that Helser was updating furniture to include lofts. FWIW. I enjoyed my time in Helser.

I'm pretty sure this is not the case, at least for 2012-13. Helser is a good dorm though.

+1, glad to see the updates! Thanks for sharing.

Maple is substance controlled so if you get caught (once) with booze/any substance you are automatically kicked out and have to find another dorm to live in. Just so you know

I'll be living in Maple this fall. So when you say caught with booze do you mean directly (beer in hand) or will I get in trouble for stumbling home drunk some night even if I don't have any on me. This sounds like something I need to know in advance :jimlad:

Depends on who you run into while you're stumbling home.

Since you've got a year to go before you are here go here:Cyride : CyRide and learn the bus system. During the day the oranges (commuter lots to MWL to central campus), run every 3 to 7 or so minutes, the cardinals run around every 10 mins or so (Fredrickson Court clockwise around campus), and the gold runs every 20 mins or so (the Frats & Sororities to Friley up to Pammel Drive and back to the greeks). Any further questions PM me, glad to help.
