animal science looking for res. hall

Is it easy to get swept up in all the parties and drinking in mwl? Are people still pretty responsible with studying and grades?

Yes there is something going on every night if you know were to look. It is all about self discipline. Personally, my first semester I was out drinking Wednesday-Saturday and my GPA showed that. I learned the hard way about self- discipline.

I lived with a couple guys that took animal science. Those wild hillbillies from Western Iowa did nothing but party the entire time we lived in Ames - probably why I preferred to hang out with them.

College really just amplifies what you already are, if you're responsible now nothing will really change that much likely. If you're too free-spirited like I was as a freshman you might get your *** kicked for a little while and either change or flunk out.

maple has different style rooms and alot more intense rules regarding getting caught with alcohol.

i had 3 strikes in willow within a couple months and all I had to do was an online course

You just need to do a better job of hiding your substance abuse problems. I can give you a few tips if you want...

Shameless plug for Lyon Hall!

It's like the secret Helser--old, tiny, and loveable.

Old RCA! I loved that damn place. My RA was cool as hell though. When I was the "can collector" for the floor, I had a bag full of beer cans that people brought in. Another RA saw it, wrote me up for it, and all my RA said was "Well, just... put it somewhere it can't be seen if someone walks by." That's about the time we found the panel in our room that lead to the bathroom.

I lives in Lyon last year and am going to again this year! Definitely a good dorm for me... Good location as well as I am a business major and love going to athletic events and the rec center

The filter in this thread so far is amazing. Far better then I would of expected for a Friday.

First of all, you picked a great major ;) Too bad the awesome Kenealy will be gone. I was in Dairy Science and lived in Friley for the first two years. A little further from the ans sci buildings, but realistically, you will have a lot of gen eds the first year and with the space issues they are having, who knows where your classes will be.

A lot of an sci kids stayed in MWL though - getting involved in your learning group or going to the peer mentor activities they do will help as far as meeting new people and having a study buddy in case you party a little too hard some nights and need to get that homework done, lol!

I am now all sorts of confused. You got the acceptance letter yesterday, yet you lived in Friley for two years? And you know the demographics of MWL and retired professors in what you are going to study?

someones got a case of the stupids. (its you)

Yea, I just realized that. Oops. My mind is elsewhere today, that is, not encased in my skull, and wandering around my house. I just saw "girl" in the username and didn't realize that there were multiple people with that in their username. My bad. I'll try and be more careful next time.

I'll cut to the chase. Because people will no doubt debate for thousands of posts.

Bottom line: wherever you end up, it's as good as you allow it to be. You can have an amazing time anywhere, and you can have a horrendous time anywhere. It's all what you make of it.
