I didn't love the article by any means, but I agree with a lot of what was said. There are a heck of a lot of whiny ISU fans who take things too seriously and get ultra defensive, all the time... Pat Forde slideshow, bush-league, but who cares? It's a damn slide show and I wouldn't mind keeping Ames the hidden gem that it is. Who cares what other people think about Ames, it only matters what it means to you. EJ dunk last year at KU game, crappy beyond belief, especially considering the blown calls, but that never warrants stuff being thrown on the floor, and certainly doesn't warrant a booster losing his cool and going off on Bill Self and embarrassing all of us... Or the two goons that posted racial things on twitter immediately after the game... I will say I was fairly proud of CF for the immediate response to those idiots.
Bobby is just looking for the ideal cyclone fan base. Passionate, good sports, and not so damn defensive all the time. Frankly I think a lot of it comes down to confidence. It would be a good time to show a little confidence in your ISU fansculinity... Just like confident guys who go to the store and are willing to pick up panty liners and tampons, sometimes we need to just get over ourselves and know that we're man/fan enough to let these things slide... Besides, I'm a much bigger fan of being proactive, inviting Forde to Ames, and showing him what a great place it is. Whining and internet bullying safely from your cpu next to your industrial size bag of cheetos in your tighty whities (now a shade of orange) is easy. Taking action and illustrating first hand how great of a place Ames is, or how we are still a classy fan base when wronged, goes a lot further in my opinion.
