All time favorite band.

I didn't read every post but I didn't see anyone mention Lynard Skynyrd.

Simple Man is one of the greates songs ever recorded (However I sort of like the Shinedown version of this song better)

Somewhere, Ronnie Van Zant has rolled over in his grave several times.

Skynyrd was incredible. However, I think if Ronnie Van Zant saw the current incarnation of "Lynyrd Skynyrd", I think he'd beat the **** out of his little brother and the 2 original members playing in it. They've take a complete 180 from what Skynyrd was all about.

And calling Shinedown's cover (while its decent) of Simple Man better than the original is musical blasphemy! But to each their own, I guess.

Yes, Skynyrd has become a joke. I saw the first time in '93 when Ed King was still in the band and they were actually decent. Losing Billy Powell was the final nail...without him they aren't worth seeing, in my opinion.

What is your all time favorite band, and what was your first experience with them?

Pretty much any band from 1994. All credit goes to 107.5 (THE DOT!!) for introducing me to some of the greatest bands of my lifetime. Yes, 107.5 used to play great music.

Green Day - Dookie
Weezer - Blue Album
The Offspring - Smash
Soundgarden - Superunknown

Too many to narrow down:

-Rolling Stones simply for their shear volume of work
-Skynyrd because I love southern rock and they did it better than anyone else
-REO Speedwagon for the ballads
-Kiss & ACDC if I'm in the mood to rock
-Poison/Skid Row are the best of the 80s metal (with honorable mention of Queensryche)
-GNR, Nirvana, Pearl Jam & STP for the early/mid 90s

I'm also a big country fan and I could listen to George Strait all day, but Garth is also incredible. Kenny Chesney pre 2006 is very enjoyable as well. Eric Church, Gary Allen & Jason Aldean are my favorite new country artists, but I also enjoy Zach Brown Band.

If I want to laugh, Steel Panther.

My country music taste begins and ends with George Strait

Without a doubt Pearl Jam is #1. They produce such inspiring music and you ALWAYS get your money worth and more when you see them play live. Seen them 11 times (saw them in 5 different cities during the Yield album tour in 1998).
2. At The Drive In, never seen a more energetic band play live with so much passion.
3. Kings of Leon, new to most Americans because of their last album actually getting played in the U.S., but their first 3 albums were as solid as it gets. Check out their second album Aha Shake Heartbreak, raw as hell.

I know this will date me, but some of my favorite bands that I have seen perform are some of the early groups:

Jefferson Airplane
Mountain
MC5
Rolling Stones (pre 80's when they were still a "dangerous "band)
Utopia
Quicksilver Messenger Service
The Byrds

For jazz fans I had the opportunity to see Miles Davis in the mid 80's. Weird dude ath the time but he could really play.

That will getcha goin'.
... if that does'nt this will .... heee heee heee !!!! :biglaugh:

Lovin' Cup (favorite song ever #2 sucks *** to this*))...
