All time favorite band.

311, hands down. Their earliest albums blew me away. "Music", "Grassroots", "311", and "Transistor" are still regulars on my playlist. After a couple of below average CDs (in my opinion) their latest "Uplifter" is fantastic.

311 isn't my favorite band, but I've always enjoyed them, and think they're pretty underrated. Really good live as well.

Did you go to the show at Stephens in 2005? Between the Summer of 03 and Spring of 06 I saw O.A.R 9 times, including two nights opening for DMB out in Alpine Valley. Great times, but I burned myself out on the band. I hated their last album, but theyll always have a special place in my heart.

My all time favorite bands, would have to be in order.

1a. Rolling Stones: so timeless, classic, and influential. In the late 60s and early 70s they put out some of the best albums ever made. Love their bluesy, gritty, somewhat country influenced sound. The soundtrack to a lot of my collegiate career.

1b. Drive-By Truckers: I mention these guys in about every music thread on this board, but they are so ******* good. Switching from haunting, lonesome old school country tunes to face melting guitar solos, balls out old school Southern rock, and some of the most thought provoking, yet straightforward lyrics being written today, almost everyone of their songs sounds like something Ive witnessed or experienced.

2. Pearl Jam: Eddie Vedder is such a powerful singer and lyricist, and the band (especially Mike McCready) can just soar sometimes. They have covered so many bases in their career and have refused to be pigeon-holed, and have continued making powerful music for almost 20 years.

HMs: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, RHCP, The Who, Jack White and anything he touches, The Band

Supergroup: Im only going to use people who are alive today.

Lead Vocals: Eddie Vedder
Guitar\Vocals: Jack White
Guitar 2\Vocals: Mike Cooley (Drive-By Truckers)
Bass: Flea
Drums: Dave Grohl

Didn't get to go to that one. I went to Council Bluffs last summer for their outdoors show. Great time.

I'll go with you on the Stones...amazing others that should be included on your Supergroup Dave Matthews and Eric Clapton because these guys can play almost anything, any genre.

Anything Clapton amazing.

That would have been a blast.

Fun, fun, fun live band. The Stephen's show was the same night as the K-State football game that day. Up early to tailgate (which resulted in my roomate's brother going to jail), big victory at the Jack, and a hell of a good concert that night, and as I walked in, I saw an ex getting thrown out for puking in the ticket line. It was pretty much a perfect day.

DMB would have been in my All-Time favs at one point in my life. Another great live band, that I've probably just burned myself out on. Still kicking myself for missing the show in DSM this year.

I didn't read every post but I didn't see anyone mention Lynard Skynyrd.

Simple Man is one of the greates songs ever recorded (However I sort of like the Shinedown version of this song better)

You may have just ruined any credibility.

Skynyrd was incredible. However, I think if Ronnie Van Zant saw the current incarnation of "Lynyrd Skynyrd", I think he'd beat the **** out of his little brother and the 2 original members playing in it. They've take a complete 180 from what Skynyrd was all about.

And calling Shinedown's cover (while its decent) of Simple Man better than the original is musical blasphemy! But to each their own, I guess.

I don't think I've ever seen a post go from "Good point, man!" to "This guy is out of his ******* mind!" faster than this one. Congrats! :notworthy:
