Absolute cluster

It's kind of like having a big family reunion planned. You finally get everyone in the family to agree to fly in, rent the party room, etc., and then then you schedule your child's state championship game on the same day. Everyone is pumped to come to the reunion but now you're making them choose between the reunion and watching your child.

Just like that situation, you could see this coming a mile away. Choosing the buy the tickets (if a person was buying them to attend) was choosing not to watch on TV. It's not right or wrong, it's just the choice you chose to make. No use complaining about a predictable outcome.

As for the false reunion/championship choice, the host family would know well ahead of time that their kid's team was a good one and had a chance at the tournament. It wouldn't be hard at all for them to schedule differently.

Go to the games in Des Moines Saturday and record and watch the Iowa State game when you get home. Not hard.

Ummm no impossible. They show updates on the video board, people will be talking about it all over and they have the full game on in the concourse.

You would just know the result. Sometimes things come up in life when you just gotta miss an Iowa State game. When this happens to me, I record and watch it at a later time.

For some, mom bringing dinner down to the basement may be the only thing they have going on day to day.

"Ma!!...the meatloaf!!!"

I forgot I told the wife I'd go with her to a wedding like 2 months ago....so I'm already prepping for WW3 when I tell her I'm not friggin going. This should be fun.

Might as well. In a couple weeks she will likely be mad at something new anyways.

.... as a fan of college bb I sure wouldn't miss Kentucky-Indiana just to watch Iowa State. Thats why they invented dvrs.....
.

If it was John Wooden with one of his great UCLA teams coming into DSM, maybe, but doubtful, would I ever miss watching my team live on their way to their Sweet 16 run. I get that you have tickets, but the KY-Indiana game is not enough hype for my DVR.

Don't understand why they would not schedule ISU at same time as Des Moines games just because their the host school?? If you bought tickets you should have known there was a chance the games could be at the same time.

Did the fact that Iowa State was hosting in any influence your decision to get tickets? I have a hard time believing that's true. It's cool there's NCAA basketball in Des Moines. You took the risk of missing the ISU game when you bought tickets.

It sucks that it worked out this way, but why in the world would the NCAA and CBS care who is hosting each pod in relation to game start times?

Yeah a chance, but a small chance and I figured they would try not to. My dad (Iowa fan) said during the selection show they would put us on Friday Sunday, because of Des Moines. I said I wasn't confident that they would. Look it is one thing that it is during the Des Moines games, but we have been told that we wouldn't be successful for how long and now that we get the chance they are making us chose.

I assumed before Selection Sunday that they would maybe put Iowa State in one of the two regions that were playing on Friday and Sunday.

I also live 5 minutes from Wells Fargo. I would skip this event to watch the 3rd ISU non-con game of the regular season on cyclones.tv.

If the tickets are bought and paid for, the favor has been done.

I consider my tickets a sunk cost. I'll watch the first part of the UK/IU game at the Well, and then likely walk the 7 blocks home to watch our game. If we luck out and they're allowing re-admittance to see KU/UCONN, great; if not, oh well. I have no interest in dealing with the StubHub/Craigslist/sidewalk scalping BS to sell my tickets.

Missouri Valley is hosting in St. Louis. Their offices are in St. Louis, so I doubt they have any interest in hosting a site in Des Moines.

The Big 12 is the host of the OKC games this year. Its offices are in Irvine (Dallas). Worked out well for OU.

I don't think it would be a stretch to assume the MVC could hosting rounds in DSM given that Drake is located here.

If that was the difference between us being a 4 or 5 I'll take how it all played out.
