Eh, wut? When you choose to attend the games in person, you are choosing not to watch the games on TV at the same time. It is the risk you take when you decide to buy tickets. Who hosts the games at some random site is 100% irrelevant.

Denver is one of the most convenient places for ISU fans to travel to. I'd rather have that and have overlap with the DSM sessions. We could have ended up in NYC like the hoks with half as many ISU fans in attendance as Denver.
Lol, so the arena will be empty to watch 4 of the most storied programs in ncaa history just because Iowa State is playing the same time? It didn't seem to hurt attendance yesterday.
Also, you don't think any Iowa, Drake, or Uni fans are attending this event?

A yes and no. Pending times, wrestling nationals are at MSG this year. Many hawk fans out there. Could stay another day if they win and catch wrestling and basketball.
I was at session 2 last night, I heard a few tavern hawks/purple hawks complaining that the court had an ISU logo on it.
Heard a source say that there are two things the NCAA looks at:
1) Did the site produce the revenue promised in the bid
2) Coach complaints
They do plenty of considerations, I'm with the OP, I don't think it's too much to ask to give the hosting school, who steps up to host, a little bit of consideration for fans in their home market. Does it make it more challenging? Sure, but it's not an outrageous consideration to make for a school that's stepped up to host the tournament, since they are not allowed to play at the site they are hosting.
I dont disagree, but ISU is the one who FINALLY got DM the bid. Not sure it would of taken off without ISU stepping up.
I just think the rule is stupid. The ONLY benefit that ISU had by hosting in Des Moines that Iowa would not of had if they played in Des Moines was first crack at tickets, which is an easy fix. I understand Louisville not being allowed to play in the Yum Center if they are the host, but that rule should not apply if your are hosting at a neutral site.
Also, if I was lucky enough to have tickets for Saturday, as a fan of college bb I sure wouldn't miss Kentucky-Indiana just to watch Iowa State. Thats why they invented dvrs. How many times has this happened in Sea Moines.
Like the previous poster pointed out, people that bought tickets to the event went in knowing it was a good possibility their favorite team from Iowa would play during the event.

They put our game on the screen during one of the media (ie-loooooooong) time-outs, and the Hawkeye fans around us started booing. A couple were complaining about our relative seeding. I didn't say anything...just kept on smiling. I'm glad we're such a thorn in their side.
The REALLY loud booing came when they had the Baylor game on there right at the end of their game, and they switched off of it to invite us all to go buy NCAA merchandise. The boos were SO loud you couldn't even hear the announcer.

we were at the ku game too and thought this was hilarious. live look in - nope! merchandise!

That is NOT a cheer that older women want to hear with such frequency....it's far too suggestive!
I guess it could happen and did happen but as an ISU fan I'd be looking to unload those tickets in a heartbeat to watch the game before I watch Kentucky - Indiana or whoever.
