A message to our fans in attendance yesterday..

I agree with the sentiments that yelling at the coaches from the stands accomplishes nothing. But the other alternative is an empty stadium.

I'm proud that JTS is 90% full after winning 4 games in the last 10 years. We have a better attendance than a lot of our B12 foes with a far worse team.

They are attempting to sell Oklahoma tickets for $15. Pretty sure that will be nowhere close to 90% full. Hard to even tailgate with a 6:30 start on a Thursday.

Anybody that yells at the coaches (who can't hear you) or the players (who don't care what you think) is an idiot. JTS is full of them unfortunately. Also unfortunate is that JTS is not nearly as bad as other stadiums in the country. I can't even imagine what takes place in Iowa City. Being an idiot seems to be pretty common these days.

It's pretty simple, yell loud for the defense when they need it and cheer the offense when they score. Nobody around you gives a **** what you think or what you think the coaches should be doing....they really don't.

I was kind of disappointed in the crowd Saturday. Iowa State would actually be trying on a drive and the entire stadium was sitting on its hands. Not just subdued but pretty much totally silent. I get that the team is one Mountain West team from winless, but what did you seriously expect out of this season? Why not support the team that is giving their all and losing at least 1/10 as much as a team that is giving their all and just coming up short?

I long for a new rule where you get banned for mentioning Iowa in the ISU forums unless we are playing them that week, it's ridiculous how quickly things seem to always turn to the ******* Hawkeyes

It is frustrating. It's what the Rivals' site became. Every topic turned in to a *&^% Iowa thread.

I generally support the team and don't give the coaches/players "feedback". However I do on occasion yell at the officials when warranted. Yeah, they might not hear my voice, but if enough in the stadium express their displeasure with crap calls they get the message without having to decipher what a single voice is saying.

My fault. I just thought back to my first game in Kinnick last year (Iowa v. Purdue) and the fans were not only a-holes to Purdue but their own team. They were undefeated, and playing on senior day and fans all around me were ******** about the play calling, screaming at the officials, booing their players (again, on senior day), and throwing snowballs at Purdue's mascot (which was kind of funny but also wrong). I couldn't believe it. My Hawkeye girlfriend and I left before half because it was that bad. Walking out of there I was thinking, thank goodness JTS is rarely like this (exception of last Saturday against KSU).

Fans have no confidence that we will ever get a stop on 3rd down, so stand and make some noise is not worth the effort.

One of the drawbacks of having a terrible team means tickets are easy to get and more dummies can get in and yell at coaches that can't hear them.

On the flip side, cheap seats means more parents are dragging the young kids to the game which can also make for a poor experience for those around them.

Why would fans boo their undefeated team on senior day while winning by three touchdowns with 10 inches of snow on the ground?

I've been to games at all but WVU in the current conference, and all of the former Big 8. I've been to games all over the country outside of the conference as well and there are "those fans" everywhere. It's unfortunate that there are idiots that seem to think their yelling obscenities will, in some way, affect how a player plays or a coach coaches, but it is what it is.

It's unbelievable how many times they get a team 3rd and over 10 and then let them convert.

Yep. That was a real shame. Pull a great onsides kick, score, cover the kickoff great -- but then let KSU convert on a 3rd and 10 and 3rd and 14 on their next drive. Should have had them punting from inside their own 20, with chance to drive and tie.

Sigh. But seen it 100 times if we have seen it once.

every single fan base has people like this. It's the way it is, just have to ignore them.

I think one of those, we may have stopped them absent the personal foul penalty, although they probably would have just got it on fourth down anyway.
