A message to our fans in attendance yesterday..

Did we play Iowa this weekend? Not sure why there are so many Hawkeye mentions in this thread. Quit acting like little brother and focus on the topic of fan interactions.

That being said: fans will be fans. Have a talk with your kids beforehand that fans around them may curse or use profanity. If Iowa State takes a "holier than thou" stance on how fans behave in Jack Trice, we won't have much of a fanbase to put in the seats.
I long for a new rule where you get banned for mentioning Iowa in the ISU forums unless we are playing them that week, it's ridiculous how quickly things seem to always turn to the ******* Hawkeyes

in before "i bought a ticket i can, say what i want"

That reminds me of a golfing buddy of mine who used to say.....I can look for my ball for as long as it takes to find it because I paid as much money as everybody else

btw he usually hit it short and straight down the middle while I looked for my ball on the edge of the fairway LOL

I'm sure all of you, just like me, were disappointed in the result of yesterday. That is no excuse to go on a game long rampage in the stands. Most of our fans at JTS are good people and root for our team even when things aren't going our way. Thank you, you are the fans that make JTS an awesome atmosphere even for a 1 win team. The rest of our fans at the game, you know who you are. Screaming at the top of your Lungs "Campbell you suck", "piss poor coaching!", "Chr*st, tackle him you moron!" the entire game while pounding on the bleachers is not what fans in section 9 want to see and hear while watching our team win or lose. This is my 3rd new section in 5 years of having season tickets and there is someone like this in every section I have been in.

I know I won't make an immediate difference in this post but if you are one of those people, just know you aren't helping the people who want to be at the game. I love going to the games and want to be able to financially support the AD but when people like I describe above are screaming all game, it makes fans think about their options and one of them includes staying home, watching it on TV, and saving a lot of money. That means less tickets sold, less money to the AD, less support for the team. There is another team in this state that condones awful fan behavior so if you are going to act like a jerk all game go there, stay away from ISU. We love our family friendly atmosphere and if you shut up or leave, the rest of us will be able to enjoy the game much more and without your nonsense.

Interesting post from a guy named "CysRage" o_O

There is definitely "that guy" in ever section. The guy in my section wasn't too bad Saturday, he yelled and kicked the seat in front of him (it was empty luckily) but I'm not sure I heard any obscenities. Stormed out and disappeared for about 30 minutes, came back, kicked the seat a few more times.

I wasn't offended or anything, I actually found it kind of funny. All I could think was "is this your first Iowa State game?"

I honestly can't believe at this point people are still so upset by us losing. It makes no sense.

So all summer we've got the best fan base in the country and we shouldn't have near as many fans in the seats as we do.

Then while the season is in play, we have the worst student section and more fans should come but some of the fans that come should stay home.

Got it.

I get frustrated too and yell some things out. But then I remember that the players are 19-22 year olds and I remember how fricking stupid I was then.
It's ok to yell things out but if you are constantly yelling obcentities because a 20 year didn't make a tackle, then reprioritize a little.

I try not to swear at games because I know kids can be around. But I also want Iowa State to win and its hard for me to sit back, smile, and cheer the whole time when we win 1-3 games per year and people are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on tickets.

There is no excuse for being an ******* during games. But I don't blame or mind people being fired about up their team.

We used to have a borderline lunatic in our section during the later Mac years that would literally lose it whenever we ran a trap play. Just screeching.

I will say this behavior is absurd, but if you think we have it bad try going to a chiefs game at Camarohead. It's just absolutely brutal and purvasive throughout the stadium.

That said, nut up, politely explain to the guy that their behavior is disruptive, and if they don't stop get security.

I don't think anybody is complaining about the occasional thing, it's the ongoing, incessant ranting.

Still no excuse. You can be an idiot from the comfort of your own home without annoying people around you at JTS.
You, although in the right and I agree with you, have way too much faith in people. This happens at every stadium across America. Out of the Billions of people on this earth, a good majority of them are just plain stupid, some are bound to stumble into a stadium and scream like they are making a difference.

I'm not sure what point the OP is trying to make. If this was any other school with the records we have had over the last 5 seasons there wouldn't be anymore in the stands. Be happy people are actually paying for something that has been unwatchable for years.

@isufbcurt I sat in the front row of section G about 6-8 seats away from the son. He was RIDICULOUSLY annoying. He went on and on. Everyone in my area was looking at each other and asking when is this guy going to shut up? We saw part of your interaction, but couldnt hear the words exchanged. After you left, the son said "all i said was we should run it up the middle" like he couldnt understand why someone would be annoyed. One of the older ladies behind me said "he isnt saying much now that daddy isnt there to protect him".

Good to know and that's not all he said.

We (my wife and I) actually contemplated moving our seats but I really like our seats because I can see the plays developing really well and didn't want an annoying fan to be the reason we moved. next year we will probably move more towards the center of the field.

I actually have the same situation in Section G. This father and son (I would guess son to be approx. 30ish, and I believe they are both teachers somewhere) are always like this. I have bit my lip for 3 long years, but yesterday was the tipping point. The older gentlemen who sits in front of me turned around to me and said they were really annoying him. So I slid over a couple seats, leaned between them and told them to shut up they were annoying everyone behind them. The dad decided to go tell the security guard that I somehow assaulted them by leaning over between them. The funny thing is the head of security and two State Tropper guys verified my side of the story with numerous people who sit around us and security has actually had complaints about these guys before and have told them to stop beating on the scoreboards that are attached to the upper deck.

The crappy thing is it all caused me to miss the safety.

Do these people happen to sit in row 1?

I'll be danged. How did that guy get from section 9 to section 23?? He sat there with his quite attractive wife and cute ~6yo girl, and about every 10 minutes VIOLENTLY shouted at the officials, and I mean VIOLENTLY. Honestly thought I might have to restrain him. No cursing, to his credit, but blood-in-his-eyes-losing-his-mind-angry. For the record, he did not like Campbell, Park, or the officials.

You know, please yell and scream and make noise. You can even curse sometimes but have some care as to the kids around. Parents understand this is not a G-rated event. But don't completely lose your mind. There is a balance to be struck.

This is my exact thought. I go, I cheer, but with the way this year (and the past, what, 4 years) have gone I have little emotional attachment to the game. I just can't fathom yelling and screaming obscenities over a game that would take us to 2-6.

They are also in every fanbase. We were in the KSU section yesterday, and there was a guy (KSU fan) going off on everything (refs, KSU players and coaches). If i didnt know, I would of thought KSU was down the entire game.

Ignorance is not limited by the color of one's laundry, I can vouch for that fact.

I've often wondered how these people that absolutely lose their **** at a football game are able to function in society.
