A Crane has arrived!!

The score board mounts in front of the support -- or on top? From the renderings I would guess in front of.

Perfect excuse for a road trip to Ames over 4th of July weekend.

I really hope that NCAA Football 12 has the new scoreboard in the game this summer! But I really doubt it.

It would be awesome if they did, but it probably aint happening. They pretty much have everything in the game that they are going to have at this point and are just trying to fix bugs.

Looking at the webcam feed a second ago, and I'm confused.

Wasn't that support the scoreboard will rest on twice as large last week? I thought we had pictures of a second "layer" fully built on top of the one laying on the ground.

Is my memory off?

I think your memories off. It looks the same to me.

I'm wondering how many times this giant steel structure gets struck by lightning. Could make for some really cool pictures if someone's there at the right time.

Look through the archive and you will see that the structure is in the process of being double the height it was last week. I think we only "discussed" it being double the height eventually.

Was under the impression that the third layer was going to be brought in in large pieces like the bottom was (hence why they couldnt put up the east support tower yet). Now it looks like theyre building that third layer piece by piece?

People constantly zooming in and out and panning left to right is going to end the webcams for us.

My bad. I was trying to zoom in on where stuff is actually happening, and when panning over my touchpad clicked a couple extra times.

Some of those that like to go get a view of downtown ames or of hilton though... yeah, they dont help.

That was the design intent and how the shop drawings were put together. Must have made the decision to stick build the top layers.
