I know this is a little late; I meant to post it earlier.
The penalties were not as you remember them. If I found them all, they broke down like this:
Off - 5 infractions, 4 penalties - 25 yards
Def - 3 infractions, 3 penalties - 25 yards
ST - 1 infraction, 1 penalty - 10 yards
The consequences are probably why they stick out. Four offensive penalties resulted in killing 4 drives (couldn't pick up another 1st down) while the 3 defensive penalties resulted in one automatic first down, a 1st and 5 and a second and 3; both of which UNI picked up. The ST penalty resulted in a loss of field position (10 yards).
The problem is that they are still too frequent and the offense can't overcome them.
On the other hand, three of UNI's penalties were against the O (all 5 yarders). They picked up the first down after 2 of them and the third was at the end of the half so they never got to 4th down.
