26 years ago today

The defense that year was really really bad. Had a good offensive line and obviously Davis so the offense was pretty good. Defense was the killer.
Lost 4 games by less than 3 points.(infamous Wyoming OT game) Lost to Colorado by a touchdown.
If a LOT of bounces go the right way, that team could have been at 6 wins.
Yes, that team was competitive. The prior year the meaningless carry argument was fair, but not TDs junior year. They were in most games.

Troy was awesome. He was on some bad teams though. I remember the Clones routinely being down 20 points in the 4th quarter and McCarney was still giving it to Troy.

The fact he never won the Heisman and isn't talked about more in terms of great college backs in a true injustice.

2-9 ain't winning the Heisman. Had the team not **** the bed so much and maybe finished 6-5 instead, he would have had a much better chance.

I never realized this either, but TD also missed out on the Doak Walker award to a guy who finished his last college semester with a 0.00 GPA. Take that for what it's worth.

25 years ago this November, Nebraska beat Iowa State 77-14. Matt Campbell was 17 years old.

Troy's 378 yard day against Missouri. I was 15 at the time and was at the game. One of my favorite games.

That was nice! Thanks for sharing!

And you know that was before the 'real' internet, before we got our first computer. We were out of state and I don't think I've ever seen that game, fully anyway. What a great game, and a great running back.

Everyone knew he was getting the ball. I don't think it mattered.

Who was the OL when Troy had his 2 big years? Full name, year, and did they go on to the pros, any of them?

Here's a ISU daily article about the OL

Tim Kohn was drafted by the Raiders. Aguafa I think made some NFL training camps but don't think he made a season roster.

It's probably a combination of the OL being better than what all the pundits/voter's said, and, Mr. Davis being a one of a kind RB in that place and time!
