My opinion after last year was that the Vikings should part ways with AP. He's been a great player, but is far too limited in what kind of offense he's effective in. Not a ball catcher. Not a blocker. Not good out of the shotgun. He's fantastic when he's got a fullback, and can line up 7-8 yards deep, but that really makes the offense one dimensional, especially when the line is suspect. Asiata and McKinnon aren't nearly the running back that Peterson is, but they bring other skills to the game that AP doesn't possess. I'll be interested to see how it goes if AP misses time. I don't think it will be all bad.

I think they'd be smart to use McKinnon more as a compliments when AP does return. They seem to be running more shotgun with Teddy and now Bradford at QB.
Peterson is only signed through next season, so I would think they will part ways with him then.

Gone are the days of the "feature back". Almost every team wants to have at least two guys who they can depend on with different skill sets.

AP did pickup a few nice blocks last night, but I agree that is not a strength of his normally. Having him in the offense does open up the passing game for us though. Green Bay practically begged Bradford to beat them through the air last night. They've had AP tear them up so many times that you could just tell they weren't going to let him beat them.

It will be interesting seeing how other teams stack their defenses against us. Bradford looked sharp last night. Having Asiata and McKinnon catching a ball or two out of the backfield could really slow down the pass rush and keep Bradford upright and healthy.

Rodgers seems to be past his prime. Also, McCarthy's offense has gotten very very stale.

Packers fan but not really a Rodgers or McCarthy fan. Hate to sound like Bode, but Rodgers looked awful, running around with the ball in one hand repeatedly after multiple fumbles and when he was way past the line of scrimmage and couldn't still throw anyway. Husband thinks he has lost some speed running but still thinks he can scramble around like he used to. So many sacks and fumbles. I also wonder if losing Sitton is making a difference.

Just dumb of McCarthy not to kick that field goal.

Was kind of happy for Bradford though. And every time Peterson gets hurt, it reminds me of the big hurt running it up against the Cyclones.

I've been in the exact same boat for some time. Plus, AP's age is a ticking time bomb.

I actually felt the same way -- last season, they could've still sold AP away for a good price and not felt too bad about it, in terms of team composition. While that potentially still could've happened after this season, too, that outlook isn't looking nearly as good anymore knowing that he could have a long-term injury.

No, they couldn't have. 30+ year old running backs with giant contracts have very little trade value in today's NFL. His trade value is certainly less with the injury, but it was never that high to begin with. He counts for $12 million against the salary cap, this year, and that's actually down over $3 million from 2015. Nobody is taking that contract on, and giving up anything of value to do it. The good thing is that Minnesota can get out of his contract this offseason for very little, if he's cut before a certain time. I expect this is the last year we'll see AP in a Vikings uniform.

I think losing Sitton was pretty big. Kinda surprised we let him go when we didn't really have anyone to replace him. I am growing tired of McCarthy's offense. Feels like his offense hasn't evolved one bit since 2007. I'm sure the Packers finish with 10 or so wins, but it's probably going to be the same old same old. Make the playoffs and bow out after the first game.

I thought we had some success running the ball, and didn't do it enough. I feel like Lacy needs to be more involved in the offense. And just throwing the ball away is an acceptable option when you are in trouble.

I thought the Vikings should have traded Adrian in 2013 and now, with the benefit of hindsight, I definitely think it was a mistake not to. Denver was searching hard for a RB back then and Minnesota could have sold high on Adrian who won the MVP in 2012.

Peterson is a great Viking and I have loved watching him for a long time but it's hard to see a team with a great defense have its best offensive weapon disintegrate. Hopefully I am wrong and he bounces back.

I'm too lazy to go do a search - why hasn't Treadwell played yet? Is he hurt or just not ready?

he got in for a couple snaps yesterday, but didn't get targeted. Zim seems to like to slow play some players. Treadwell isn't hurt, but the Vikings actually have some talent at the receiver spot, so it looks like it's hard for him to get time. I'd expect he'll be on there more as the weeks go on.

Just remember. Diggs didn't play til week 3 last year. Give it some time, he will come into a role.

Cool, thanks. I missed him getting in last night. I did remember that Diggs didn't play the first several weeks last year and figured this was the same type thing. Treadwell and Diggs have a chance to be a great receiving tandem.

As for the QB situation - I'd keep both of them for next year and then re-sign/extend Teddy if he's healthy. Unless Bradford turns into a top-5 QB, then you need to rethink it. But Teddy's injury isn't one that you can count on him being back at 100% week 1 next year.

Treadwell not playing isn't a bad thing. It just shows the depth we have at the position even though fans of other teams might not be able to name the players.

They resigned Wright and he has yet to play a snap. I imagine he will be trade bait when some other team's receiver goes down.

Rogers is still a top talent but his body language was not good last night. Seemed like an extension of last season when some Pack writers were starting to question if he was acting like a spoiled brat.

No way. Zim doesn't throw rookies in until they are ready. See Diggs and Waynes. Not sure why people think there is so much depth. I think it is Diggs and a handful of serviceable guys. Guys like Thielen are making some catches, but you have a loaded box and clear cut #1 opposite in Diggs and AllPro TE. These are ridiculously favorable matchups that a good #2 WR should be feasting on.

He's with Jordan Spieth and Steph Curry in the Whiny Little ***** Club.

As for AP, I said after his 2000 yard season that they needed to trade him. They could have gotten way too much for him then and probably used it for Oline help which they still need. They also need another safety but outside of that, they look pretty good.

Pack are welcome to ship him off and toil in the annual investment of draft picks and bloated FA contracts in desperate attempts to find a franchise QB like 90% of the league.

I'm not sure why Sendejo bugs me so much. I guess the weak link on a great defense is going to stand out for the wrong reasons. I think the OL will get better as the year moves on, but they will always be pretty limited in pass protection. Short of a blockbuster LT free agent I think they did as well as they could making incremental improvements with Boone and Smith.
