.

I've never claimed I lived in Chicago, but some people don't seem to hear the word "area" after I say Chicago.

My mother says "warsh" or "Warshington". Yes, she grew up rural. My sister and I always ask where the "r" is in that word.

When like people are like talking and they like use the word like like every other like word during like the whole like presentation. We are like in college, and like should like be able to like talk like normal and like not sound like a complete like moron. Like.

Iron <> Iren. Drives me nuts when my wife calls it that. THERE IS NO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Local car ads. Dewey with their "Just say yes" ad that sounds like a rapist chant. And of course Stew Hansen's crappy country garage band 'we hear you'

When the wife wears a white shirt and then pulls out the "I'm tired" excuse once the kids fall asleep. She knows I have a serious white shirt fetish.

Barbara Mack (may she rest in peace) had a great way of calling one out on that.

"Nice" shoes with "fancy" jeans...

Concerned about "authenticity" and "cred"...

I never knew mtown was a hipster.:twitcy:

For the record, I usually told non-Iowans what town I lived in (either Ames or Gladbrook) and then had to reference it with a direction/distance from Des Moines. Now I have to tell all my Iowa friends and family that Mount Vernon, WA is about 60 miles north of Seattle.

Not me! :)

Also, "milk" <> "melk"

My aforementioned North Dakotan mother-in-law pronounces theater as thee-A-ter.

My fiance says pitcher instead of picture. I blame her Minnesota upbringing. She doesn't have a pronounced accent most of the time, but she sounds just like her mom when she says picher.
