Can confirm. Many of the in-laws are from northern MN or North Dakota and they often say "ish," "ishy" or "ish-ta."

For the record, I usually told non-Iowans what town I lived in (either Ames or Gladbrook) and then had to reference it with a direction/distance from Des Moines. Now I have to tell all my Iowa friends and family that Mount Vernon, WA is about 60 miles north of Seattle.

My fiance says pitcher instead of picture. I blame her Minnesota upbringing. She doesn't have a pronounced accent most of the time, but she sounds just like her mom when she says picher.
