True, and when it counted most he screwed up big time. These things aren't given, could be another 30 years before they get back there.
Feel like the Chiefs kind of walked through the regular season and now have really turned it on during the playoffs and probably should be favored in the Super Bowl. The D is legit and Mahomes will pick apart that 9ers secondary. Need the 9ers D Line to be much more disruptive than they've been the last couple weeks

Because we've definitely never seen a football team lose by settling for kicking 40+ yd FGs. Never happened.
The only problem I had with the 4th down calls is how many were passes. I'd trust Montgomery and that OL over Goff with the way that game had played out.

Is it just me or does these "analytics" almost always say to go for it on 4th down? Same thing with going for the 2 point conversion.
There was a game a couple weeks ago that the analytic predictor said to go for it on fourth and three on a team's own 27 yard line.

Way too much chatter about 4th down calls. Not nearly enough chatter about dropped passes, a critical fumble, whiffing a turnover-worthy throw by the 49ers that turned into a 50 yard gain for them, .... Execution. Players making plays wins games. That game was a tale of two halves: DET making all the first half plays, and SF making all the second half plays.
Nah, this is the NFC championship. You don’t make your decisions based off what will yield the greatest expected value over many samples. Your decisions should be solely focused on what will win you that one game.
It was clearly a mistake to not kick those field goals in this specific situation.
