***2024 Minnesota Vikings***

The Bears realized it's better to take a risky shot at a top end QB then hang out in no mans land for years and years with Mitch and Nick Foles and Andy Dalton.

I think the general consensus is that a future 1st round pick is like a 2nd round pick in the current year.

If the Bears had made the playoffs last year, then the trade looks completely fair by the values.

If Justin Fields is a great, franchise QB, then the Bears fleeced the Giants.

I never thought much of Fields. Ohio State QB's generally don't pan out very well in the NFL. Time will tell on Justin.... he may end up being good.

What PA states on the day of the draft is usually a pretty good indicator of the Vikings intentions.

It used to be but he's admitted multiple times in the last few weeks that he doesn't have access to the inside info he used to with the new regime.

He was pretty good friends with Zimmer so I think that's where he got his info in the past.

It would tough to pass on Wilson. I'm not sold on Stingley, but what do I know.

I agree on Stingley, but know less than you. Also read the new Vikings defense isa lot of zone coverage, so spending a high draft pick on a lockdown corner is not as important as it was with a Mike Zimmer defense. Personally, I'd take Johnson or Hamilton (the safety) at 12 if available. If not, I'd trade down and take a CB later in the first round. If I couldn't get a good value on trade down, I'd go with a WR.

I'm starting to talk myself into a Jordan Davis pick as well. He'd be a heck of an add as they shift to a 3-4.

He should be there at 12. Davis or Jameson Williams would be tempting if they move off the more likely McDuffie pick.
We'll see if the Eagles, Saints, or Steelers make it worthwhile for the Vikes to trade back.

Trades that fit the Jimmy Johnson model:

Even: Vikes trade down from #12 for Ravens #14 and #100 (4th round)

+5 Vikes: Vikes trade down from #12 and their #77 (third round) for Saints #16 and #49 (second round)

+30 Vikes: Vikes trade down from #12 for Steelers #20 and #52 (second round)

+30 Eagles: Vikes trade down from #12 for Eagles #18, #83 (3rd round) #101 (4th round)

Wanted Johnson or Williams. Damn.
I don't think a WR was ever going to happen at 12. Their WR coach came out in recent days and said he was advocating they NOT take a WR that early.
