MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

I'm not that worried about the rotation. Ober has shown he's ready, Varland has shown promise in his cups of coffee and has been great in the minors, and Woods-Richardson is either ready or he probably never will be. Twins have decent depth in starting pitching for once.

I don’t trust Varlands stuff yet to see him regularly, meaning teams will get film on him and knock him around. Ryan had to fight through that and did it well but I don’t know that Varland’s stuff is electric like Ryan’s is to.

Varland's stuff should play, he's a significantly harder thrower than Ryan at this point(added significant velocity over the past few years) and has a quality slider. Not expecting him to be an ace but he should be fine in the 4th/5th starter role.

Looks like both Meada and Mahle are out for a while. Hopefully Ober and Varland can step up.
Mahle being out until possibly mid-June sucks. Not surprised his elbow issue resurfaced, but I didn’t think it would be this early in the season.
Maeda gets back in couple weeks but I’m starting to think he might be better in the long reliever role at this point.

This is a new issue with Mahle, shoulder was the problem last year not the elbow.

You can win in October with Gray, Ryan and Lopez. But you have to get there first. I'm a bit worried because if Gray or Ryan isn't unhittable for a stretch, midyear, that could be bad.

True, but it's beginning to look as if Cleveland is the only team worth worrying about. Playing .550 ball may very well win the division.

I agree. The more I think about it, I don't even care about how bad those other teams are doing. We know all too well that the Twins are capable of completely crapping the bed so bad you will forget they were even in first.

Let's get to the post season first before worrying about pitching. Then let's worry about snapping the current 18 game losing streak in the playoffs.

Agreed. It’s not like they just took 3 of 4 from the Rays. It was a dogsh*t Royals team.

Twins hit .139 with runners in scoring position on this roadtrip.... against inferior teams.

Just don't seem like much more than a struggle to stay .500 team at this point. Lineup is disappointing.
