MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

Solid day of trading for Falvey and the Twins. They needed quality pitching and they got two without giving up too much.
Rule 5 draft should also go well.

The price they paid for Lopez almost makes me wonder if there’s something wrong with him health wise that drove that price down so far. Hes not close to a rental at 2.5 years left. And to pay THAT for a guy posting those numbers in a division with those kinds of lineups?!?!? That seems insane.

Agree, but he's pretty redundant with Arraez, Lewis, Miranda, so there isn't a ton of room for him. If Mahle performs then next year and a half like he has been, its a good trade.
He is redundant but he has every making of being a stud. Mahle has to be very solid or this trade is gonna go in with the other turds this FO has put together.

Every trade can turn into a turd.

Arraez already is a stud. Miranda and Lewis look like more likely studs than Steer.

It's very possible that Steer flames out and this trade turns into a monster steal.

Lopez has only been a RP for 4 months. Before that he was a crappy SP. He might be a flash in the pan, so that drives the cost down.

That said, getting LHP that added a few ticks to his fastball and 2 lottery tickets is a great pickup for them.

One of the rare trades that could have both sides super happy in the long run.

It’s just really difficult for me to give this FO the benefit of the doubt with any pitching evaluations. So when I see them giving up a chunk of prospect capital for pitching, it makes me take a deep breath

They don't need a star but I'd like to see some catching depth added.

The bullpen is maybe (?) rounding in to shape. They have 3 solid pitchers now. I'm gaining confidence in Megill. Moran makes me nervous with the walks but doesn't give up hits and gets Ks. Pagan and Cotton are OK if they aren't in high leverage situations (please don't pitch Pagan in high leverage situations - prayer emoji). I'd like another lefty but maybe, maybe Smeltzer can do that.

edit: And it looks like the picked up Sandy Leon for catching depth.

After last nights loss/relief issues with Jax the latest victim. The pitching additions can't hurt and hopefully turn out to be terrific additions!

Rocco had to be very pleased to have four quality guys come out of the bullpen like he did today. Hope that's the winning formula the second half.
