Duffey……..

The home plate ump was horrible all night. Even Morneau was talking about it. I’m glad he let them know after that bs foul tip on Max.

It's too bad we don't have Gray, Ryan, and Correa to see how we stack up against the Yankee$.
The Twins don't stack up against the Yankees in any way shape or form. It's so one sided.... finish the series (get swept) and move on to the next team.

You guys will appreciate this. Did a little house cleaning lately and found this old beauty.

The real ones know.

I was doing some cleaning the other day and came across a pack of 'team cards' I picked up in 2006 - Lew Ford, Jason Bartlett, Jesse Crain, Juan Rincon - were a few of players I'd nearly forgot about.

This team needs a Crain and Rincon.

It needs a couple starters who can consistently go more than 4-5 innings.
Part of that is by design. Rocco doesn’t like anyone going through the opposing lineup more times then they have to.

Unfortunately, Rocco also thinks that he can continue to roll Duffey out there from his comments yesterday. His pitching staff management has been shakey, IMO.

I don’t disagree. Part of it is that he also doesn’t exactly have the horses.

Sure, it's a patchwork staff, but another example is Rocco still needs to move Duran to the closer role. He's as close to a flame throwing stud horse reliever as they have ever had.

Duran is being used exactly as he should as the best reliever on the team.

He's pitching the highest leverage outs. "Saving" him for the 9th is pointless if Duffey or Pagan blow it against the heart of the lineup in the 7th or 8th.

Pitch him (Duran) whenever the risk of losing the lead is greatest.

Haven't closers in MLB usually been the 'best reliever on the team'?

Foolishly, yes. More commonly stringently applied a decade ago.

But, saving your best reliever for a bottom of the 9th that may not come is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Rolling the dice with a middling guy to get the heart of the order out with one out and runners on in the 7th, or leading off the 8th, just because of a made up "Save" stat, is the very definition of asinine.

The Twins are up two going into the eighth, you bring in Duran instead of Pagan?
