MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

Putting Buxton and his speed behind the relatively plodding Arraez would be a mistake, Arraez is a good fit for the 2 spot.
Arraez also puts up better numbers when he is batting 2nd in the line up compared to either batting1st in the line up or leading off an inning. This is true in terms of AVE, OBP, SLG, & OPS. He is the ideal 2 spot hitter.

On a related note, Rocco screws with the lineup so much that there are little constants in batting order.

I could see it if the Twins wanted to keep the bases open for Buxton to steal. But the Twins don't run him. Must be another injury risk avoidance thing.
With Buxton's power, I'd rather see him three hole.

Arraez is an old school 2-hole hitter. He can take pitches if he needs to, he's great at putting the ball in play, he's a perfect hit-and-run-type of hitter, and he gets on base at a high rate. No matter what, when he gets a hit, Buxton is pretty much guaranteed to get extra bases with his speed.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him score from first on a single.

Can I just get off my chest that I have my nutcup firmly in place for this team? Obviously I hope for the best but all these close wins against bad teams have me worried. Especially with Buxton coming back down to earth like he has. Good teams find a way. But I’m terrified there’s a regression to the mean that’s gonna happen at some point coupled with the white Sox finally figuring out whatever the hell is going on over there and we’re gonna be fighting tooth and nail just for the 7th WC spot at best. Ok enough of being a negative Nelly.

Good teams find a way I guess but yeah its definitely not a breathe easy type of situation. We were the exact opposite last year. In so many games early on and would lose by 1 or blow a lead. Then it got to the point the wind was out of our sails and the season was done. Hoping we keep building a lead on the division the rest just folds.

This team seems to be the opposite of 3 years ago...winning games with pitching vs. just out hitting other teams and HRs all over the place.

I like the young core and I think there is more pitching help on the way. They are building and it’s fun to watch. I mean if the division sucks balls, no reason not to take advantage of it.

Exactly. Even if we can run the division we all know how the post season typically goes...and there are some juggernauts this year.

Another shutout last night. But I get what you are saying. My main question-- is this Twins pitching staff really going to keep throwing at a #5 level? Probably not, but we'll just have to enjoy first place.
Really loved seeing Duran save it last night with his 101 mph double play heater.

Correa has such a cannon.

I don't expect this team to win 102 games but they should be firmly in the playoffs. The pitching will regress but I don't think it will be catastrophic. They have pretty good pitching depth. The hitting is picking up. The defense is terrific and should stay that way. I know that analytics say that Simmons is generally a better SS but, to me, the eye test says that Correa is a better SS.

Then again, I'm generally an optimist. Not wearing a nut cup gets you hurt pretty badly but I'm more comfortable until I get kicked. The pain goes away and I have a pretty short memory so I seem to get kicked a lot.

Simmons was apparently a huge distraction in the clubhouse too. When Lewis takes over a short, there will be a dip in defense but I don't think it will be drastic.
